Christian Fuchs arrived
at Leicester in the summer of 2015, moving from Schalke 04 on a free
transfer. The experienced left back never looked back after joining and
gelled well with the rest of the squad and was fast a key player in the
line up under Claudio Ranieri.
His first season at Leicester became one unbelievable winning the
Premier League and in the next he helped City reach the quarter finals
of the Champions League. He has since his two first seasons struggled
under new boss Claude Puel and now looking more and more as a cover for
first choice Ben Chilwell.
Fuchs started his career back home in Austria with clubs such as Wiener
Neustadt and SV Mattersburg. He was a youth international and early seen
as a great talent, playing the Austria U.17, U.19 and U.21 before making
his full debut in 2006.
Fuchs retired from the international game after captaining Austria in
the Euro 2016 tournament. Fuchs had previously played in the Champions
League while at Schalke 04, so he was used to the experience of
opponents when entering again with Leicester in 2016/17.
Fuchs is well known for his pratictal jokes and has his trademark "No
Fuchs Given". He was also the host of Leicester when Norwegian TV star
Helene Olafsen visited all the Premier League clubs to find her
favourite team, sorry Fuchs. He did a great impression, but Helene
decided on Crystal Palace as her team.
Chrsitian Fuchs is married to Ruluca Gold Fuchs who live with the family
in New York, where they plan to live together in the future. Fuchs has a
contract running until the summer of 2019.
