A new club record
signing, when recruited from CSKA Moscow in the summer of 2016.
Leicester City paid £16.6 million for Musa. The Nigerian international
started well and had a dream game against Barcelona, coming on in the
2nd half scoring two goals and showing great promise.
Claudio Ranieri kept faith in Musa for the opening game of the Premier
League season, giving him a starting position away to Hull City. The
game ended in a 1-2 defeat. Musa scored his first Premier League goal
later in the season, with an opener in the 3-1 win v. Crystal Palace.
Musa also impressed with two great goals in the FA Cup v. Everton, but
sadly faded a bit out of the first team after that game. Musa has also
said that after the Ranieri sacking he was more or less frosen out of
the club, not getting a proper chance to show his skills.
A loan move back to CSKA Moscow in January 2018 gave Musa a new chance
to regular first team football. He made 10 league appearances and scored
6 goals, which in a way shows the quality of the player.
Musa was included in the Nigeria 2018 World Cup squad and made Leicester
City history when starting together with Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred
Ndidi in the game v. Iceland.. The first time three Leicester City
players are lined up from start in a World Cup team together. Musa
scored two great goals in this massive win.
