Former foxes involved,
EFL season opening

DATE: 06.08.2017 - THE CUNNING FOX - NEWSDESK

David Nugent was among the players involved at The Stadium Of Light when the EFL Championship kicked off on Friday, Sunderland played Derby and the game ended 1-1

Harry Redknapp fielded a team v. Ipswich with two former foxes included. Michael Morrison in defence and Robbie Stockdale in goal. Ipswich were the stronger team at Portman Road winning the game 1-0.

Matt Mills came on in the 2nd half when Nottingham Forest defeated Millwall at home. Forest looks strong this season and Mills will probably play a part either from the bench or in the 1st 11.

Lloyd Dyer started the game for Burton Albion at home v. Cardiff. Dyer left the field after 78 minutes. Lee Peltier and Sol Bamba played for Cardiff and got the upper hand, wining the game 1-0.

Liam Moore was on the field for Reading in their 2-0 away loss to Queens Park Rangers. Richard Stearman got a flying start to his new life at Sheffield United, playing from start and winning at home to Brentford.

Not a great start for Callum Elder, getting a red card after 44 minutes in the game between Wigan and MK  Dons. Nick Powell scored the only goal of the game and secured a great away win for Wigan. Despite the sending off, it all ended with three points.

Louis Dodds was named on the bench for Shrewsbury, but never entered the field, in the 1-0 home win against Northampton. James Pearson was on the bench for Coventry in their great 3-0 home win v. Notts County, but stayed unused.

Alan Sheehan played from start in a historical start to the season for Luton Town. The Hatters had fun at Kenilworth Road winning 8-2 v. Yeovil, with the away side taking the lead after 7 minutes.

Later today former City manager Claudio Ranieri starts his season with Nantes. Nantes lost their last pre-season game, but we will see tomorrow how things will start. Lille is the opponent and Nantes, like Leicester, starts their season away.
