Defeat also for the U.23's in their season opener v. Man Utd

DATE: 15.08.2017 - THE CUNNING FOX - NEWSDESK

City fielded a strong team against Man Utd, and there were hopes for more than a donut. But that was all Steve Beaglehole's players achieved, and with one goal for Man Utd it all ended in a 1-0 defeat.

New signings George Thomas and Robert Huth were both in the City team line-up and it was a good 11 fielded this Monday afternoon. A new face was also in the line up, trialist Harry Hudson, who is a player born in 2000 and from the West Ham United Academy.

The game was one, as Beaglehole said, that could have ended in a 0-0 draw. City had a number of chances in the end, but great saves from the O'Hara in the Man Utd goal stopped every attempt.

George Thomas came close with a header from a Josh Gordon cross, and the former Coventry City and Wales U.20 international could have got the equaliser but it never happened.

Hamza Choudhury looked sharp in midfield, with Robert Huth making his return, playing 60 minutes. He will gradually be back to full fitness and be ready for selection. Craig Shakespeare watched the game from the stands.

Mitchell scored the winner for Man Utd after 61 minutes. A great free kick dipped under Daniel Iversen's cross bar, the Danish youth international had no chance to save that excellent placed shot.

City defender Connor Wood came close in the end with a well placed shot, but O'Hara in the Man Utd goal showed some fantastic skills and again managed to get his hands on the ball and box it over the crossbar.

Despite not getting a result, there was as Beaglehole said, a lot of positives. After watching the clips from the game, Hamza Choudhury looked as the best player among the City group.

Next up is Everton away, not an easy task. This is a competetive league and City have to get the line-up right to be able to pick points and keep their place in the best party.

The LCFC are following up in the best way possible, and to get the games live is a new dimention that is well appriciated. For us who follow Leicester City in thick and thin it's a fantastic way to be able to get a closer look, not being able to be around the teams on a daily basis.
