Match Preview: Premier League, Huddersfield v. Leicester

DATE: 15.09.2017 - THE CUNNING FOX - NEWSDESK

So far City have done as predicted, and no bonuses, falling flat against better teams and doing what expected at home versus a newly promoted side

The Huddersfield game is another must win for City, who needs a dig out points from games like this. To get zero away to Manchester United and Arsenal and another zero at home to Chelsea is of course nothing to be surprised about.

Shakespeare has not impressed so far, doing what he can, picking a good starting 11. The fact that Danny Drinkwater is gone and not really replaced is a great worry, because the players who have arrived are different in style.

City defender Christian Fuchs is uncertain, then Ben Chilwell will be the one to replace him, easy choice. The other player that could be absent is Matty James, who is struggling with a foot injury afte the Chelsea game. Iborra could get his league debut away to Huddersfield.

Andy King is a clear alternative, and always a player that delivers what you expect and can cope with teams like Huddersfield. When playing the better opponents, King becomes a bit "invisible" and never influences the game.

We hope to see Iheanacho from start as well. It's time to step up, make a choice, and play Vardy and Iehanacho up front together. Mahrez is definately playing and Albrighton should also be in the team. Iborra and Ndidi could be the pair in the centre of midfield.

The team selection we would like to see, is a four four two: Schmeichel - Simpson, Maguire, Morgan, Chilwell - Iborra, Ndidi, Albrighton, Mahrez - Iheanacho, Vardy

The last time City played against Huddersfield in a top flight game was back in the 1971-72 season. City were newly promoted from the 2nd tier. City stayed up and Huddersfield was relegated that season.

The games ended, at Filbert Street, 2-0, at Leeds Road, 2-2.

Ally Brown and David Nish scored at Leeds Road, City had the following classical line up,

Shilton, Whitworth, Nish, Sjoberg, Cross, Farrington, Kellard, Sammels, Glover, Brown, Fern

At home Weller and Sammels scored in the 2-0 winner, this was the team on the day,

Shilton, Whitworth, Nish, Sjoberg, Cross, Weller, Sammels, Birchenall, Tomlin, Brown, Fern

Among foxes who also have appeared for Huddersfield, there are a few, but the legend is of course Frank Worthington, who City signed from Huddersfield. One probably starting the game tomorrow is Ben Chilwell, who was on loan at John Smith's two seasons ago.

Iwan Roberts and Ian Banks are other players with a past at both clubs.
