City looked troubled in
the first half, but Mr Klopp made things easier for Shakespeare and
his men, taking off Philippe Coutinho after just 45 minutes, he was
the dominating player on the field
Winning football games can sometimes be
difficult and the way you do it is also a bit different from time to
time, but seeing a manager of the oppostion giving your club a big
present, makes this a strange afternoon of football.
Liverpool dominated the first half in a way that you would believe
they should have been four goals up, but in some way City's defence
with Morgan and Dragovic in the middle, managed to keep the goal
score zero zero after first half.
City defended well, but up front they had no real chances and Ben
Hamer, who was in goal this afternoon, must be regarded as the best
City player in the first 45 minutes, dong no errors.
Liverpool kept their pressure early on in the 2nd half as well,
without Coutinho on the field. Then something strange happened after
Leo Ulloa headed away a corner, he goes to the ground and looks
shaken and dizzy.
He can't continue playing and Shakespeare decides to put on Shinji
Okazaki. Okazaki makes an instant impact and his way of style and
work is a bit different to Ulloa, so City manage to get more into
Shinji is very much involved and after 65 minutes he combines well
with Iborra and his shot, who is deflected by a Liverpool player,
gets the right push and slides in behind Liverpool goalkeeper on the
day, Danny Ward.
A great goal and just minutes after being in real trouble,
everything goes in City's direction and they are 1-0 up. Liverpool
becomes trying harder and harder to score, and City gets the counter
Demarai Gray have a number of oppertunities and his pace is a real
treath to the Liverpool defence, and then in the 78 minute islam
Slimani is played free, makes a great move forward and scores with a
curle on the ball, straight in the left side corner of goals,
You must say that this was a hard working battle and a City team
without Vardy, Mahrez and Maguire makes the most out of this clash
and City are through to the next round of the EFL Cup.
