Watching everything live
from the stands is something different. Telly is telly, live is
live, that's how it is, no secret about it. Great atmosphere and a
fantastic match, five goals, but in the end 0 points
Watching the stats shows that this was an even
affair, and a draw would have been a fair result. For a spectator
either supporting Liverpool or being a neutral it would have been a
fantastic game to watch, but for a City fan it was a bit of
frustration in the end.
The game showed two teams that wanted something out of the game,
winning was their only aim. While City missed chances, Liverpool
scored what they needed to bring 3 points back with them on the road.
Schmeichel must be blamed for the first goal, not able to cover the
post from the Salah challenge, and after only 15 minutes Liverpool
were 1-0 up. City made a number of attempts to score, but after 23
minutes Liverpool was rewarded a free kick just outside the penalty
Again I would say that Kasper Schmeichel should have been closer to
the post and seen the way Coutinho would curle the ball into the
corner, instead he is placing himself a bit wrongly and can't reach
the ball, 2-0 is a fact.
City fights well and new chances appear. Okazaki had two clear
chanses earlier in the first half, but just before the end he manage
to be the last man on the ball and City equalises just before the
To come out to the 2nd half with a 1-2 result was not that bad, and
hope was that City would go straight for their 2nd goal. They really
tried hard, but was again punished being too open in defence and 68
minutes and a number of City chances, Jordan Henderson scores and
Liverpool are 3-1 up.
Jamie Vardy makes the most out of a good City attack and his header
goes in, and the goals gives City great hope for a third goal. And
when just minutes later a penalty is rewarded, we all hoped that we
The saying is that the one being involved in the penalty given,
should just let another take the shot. But Vardy loves taking
penalties and scoring goals and he is again the one taking the shot.
Mignolet manages to get his body on the ball, which is just a hard
Then City are not given a 2nd penalty which should have been given.
Another mad miss by Slimani in the end, not being able to head the
ball straight on goal, from an excellent crosser from Vardy.
Schmeichel comes up to be part of a last attack, but that also ends
in nothing and a new home defeat is a fact, this time City were
fully in the game, sadly no points, but that is life.
Vardy could have been the first penalty scorer for Leicester City in
a game against Liverpool for the first time in 40 years, with the
last penalty scoring player in a game against Liverpool was former
fox Billy Hughes, back in the 1977-78 season.
