Well home in Norway
after two great football games watched at different places in
Leicestershire. Visiting Whetstone is always nice, home friendly
atmosphere and this game also see City win
We arrived late, coming 10 minutes into the
game, but at that time there were no goals. City had first team
players Yohan Benalouane and Ahmed Musa in the team. Hamza Choudhury
and Josh Knight, both making their first team debuts this season,
were also in the starting 11.
We never got time to sniff around and look after our heroes around
the ground, but seen from pictures afterwards a great number of
celibrities were present including first team manager Craig
Shakespeare must be pleased with this performance and probably got a
good night sleep before the Liverpool game the day after. TCF has
not seen the U.23's or reserves for a while, but great to watch this
team, maybe one of the best U.23 teams fielded by Leicester City.
Everything looked settled and well prepared by Beaglehole, who is
doing a grand job on the development side of football at Leicester.
He has been around since the start of this century and really put
his mark on the job done.
New young players coming through and youth internationals are often
to see in a Leicester City shirt. Daniel Iversen, Denmark, Alexandru
Pascanu, Rumania, Geoff Thomas, Wales and Darnel Johnson, England,
were all playing this evening and they all looked solid.
Thomas, who scored both goals, in this good performance, and in the
end 2-0 win, is also doing the same for Wales U.21. In his U.21
debut v. Switzerland earlier in September he netted the final goal
in the great 3-0 win.
Newly signed Sam Hughes, who played in a sitting midfield role, in
front of Knight and Benalouane, also showed qualities in this
position. One player to watch is young midfielder Kiernan
Dewsbury-Hall who looked controlled on the ball and very quick in
Good to see that things are in the best hands also in the U.23 team,
and Chelsea never was a treath. Next game is against Hertha Berlin
this Wednesday, this time at King Power, enjoyable, hopefully a new
win for City.
Showing strength in all areas, playing controlled and well settled
George Thomas scoring two, getting into the right positions at the
right time, exciting prospect
Keeping one of the best U.23 teams in the league to a distance,
which shows that things are done properly
Benalouane, despite getting a yellow, playing well, great
positioning and leading by example
Scoring goals with few chances, shows quality finishing
Musa, not at his best, should have done more
