Michael Appleton was back to the basics,
making one change from the line-up starting against West Bromwich.
In with Shinji Okazaki to get back the balance defensively between
the midfield and the forward line.
Okazaki worked as everyone had hoped for and responded as he always
does, with heart spirit and great work rate. Vicente Iborra was
again partnering Wilfred Ndidi in the engine room, and they are
still searching a bit between them, but Iborra looks more and more "home".
Vardy as alway viral up front and with Simpson, Morgan, Maguire and
Fuchs in the back it's a solid and concrete defencing quartet.
Appleton had completed his eleven with Albrighton and Mahrez in the
City came out fine and had the ball more than expeced. After 24
minutes Mahrez kept the ball clear of the line and managed to
"troll" the Swansea defence and his pass to Vardy was deflected by
Fernandez and City were suddenly in the lead.
We all know that when City are going into the lead opponents must
open up and that is always something Vardy and Mahrez truly will
take advantage of and so they did, but there were no more goals
after the first half.
Among the 20 521 spectators at the game was also one Norwegian and
he reported about a hard working team, and that every City player
contributed well. We believe that no one had a bad performance and
all players were up to rating 6 or higher.
Michael Appleton did no mistakes and the players were 100 % in place
for 2nd half. A great attacking display ended inside the penalty box
and pass from Riyad Mahrez found Shinji Okazaki and his finish after
49 minutes, was a nice one, 2-0.
The game changed a bit after that and Alfie Mawson scored from a
corner, turning on a coin and placing the ball in far distance from
Kasper Schmeichel down to the right. A nice goal from the England
Swansea put pressure on Leicester, but it could have easilly been
3-1 to City when Jamie Vardy missed a chance alone with Fabianski.
Vardy could have killed the game but instead it all became a
struggle towards the end.
