Michael Appleton made a
number of changes to the starting line-up. He did well in his
selection and played a 4-4-2 which in a way had to "gell" durng the
match and as soon as it klicked it became a good performance
Leeds had also made a number of changes to
their team and it is always difficult to see the outcome of two
teams just put together for the occasion. King captained the side
and played alongside Iborra who looks more and more like "the
captain" he was at Sevilla.
Iheanacho and Slimani is a forward line few could keep on the bench
and to see them together was good. Both players are eager to show
their worth and with one goal each and really contributing, you
would say that they are too good to be left on the bench.
The problem for Shakespeare and Ranieri in the past is that they
have both used "big money" on players they are not using enough.
Then they will over time reduce the capacity of the player and get
less value for money.
Leeds took the lead from a distance shot by Hernandez, Hamer was not
to blame. City equalised just minutes after when Kelechi Iheanacho
curled a ball into the corner from outside the penalty area, great
goal by the Nigerian international.
Iborra especially, controlled the midfield area as we would like to
see it. The full back duo Ben Chilwell and Daniel Amartey both
played up to their very best level.
Appleton kept in form players, Maguire, Albrighton and Iborra in the
team from the winning side at Swansea. They all showed what they
were made of and never let Leeds into the game after the Iheancho
2nd half was one owned by Leicester, and they showed why they are a
league above Leeds. The leading goal by Slimani was one taken out of
the "handbook", with a great deep pass through from Iborra to
Iheanacho, and unselfishley playing a straight pass for Slimani to
just push over the goal line.
Mahrez came on for Albrighton and showed what he can do in a very
short period of time. He was just handed 10 minutes or so, but
managed to score with a great goal, dribbling a couple of players
and curling the ball down in the left side corner.
Iborra was the one passing the ball to Mahrez and he was close to be
the best player on the pitch, but Daniel Amartey was for TCF the one
impressing the most with a great game on right back, doing the
attack and defence in the best way possible
