Manchester City are the favourites to win the race for Riyad Mahrez,
with Manchester United also showing interest in the summer transfer
Riyad Mahrez was travelling around airports on the deadline day
of the previous transfer window. When it opens up again in January
he is again likely to be chased by the top six clubs.
Man City's Pep Guardiola is a keen admirer and he could be the one
to agree terms with Leicsester as they seek a fee of at least £ 35
million to let Mahrez leave.
Man Utd and Arsenal together with Rome were all closing in on the
player in the summer, but no one managed to find it possible to pay
what Leicester City wanted.
Mahrez joined Leicester back in January 2014
for as little as £ 400 000. He was not a regular first teamer in his
first two seasons, but in the end of the 2014-15 finally established
himself as a certainty.
When Kantè joined Leicester the two french speaking midfielders
found each other well and also combined fantastic with Jamie Vardy
and they were all key players in the 2015-16 Premier League season.
Kantè moved on to Chelsea and won the league with them last season.
Danny Drinkwater joined Kantè at Chelsea earlier this season and the
dream team build together by Claudio Ranieri is changing.
Other foxes on possible moves in January are
Islam Slimani, Leo Ulloa and Yohan Benalouane. They are all out
in the cold, with Slimani geting few chances from the bench and the
other duo not really involved at all.
Ahmed Musa is also likely to be offered a chance to leave with
Adrien Silva certain to play a part when his "ban" is up and he can
start playing early January and hopefully be part of a great 2nd
part of the season.
