Players with parents or grand parents from
other nations, can switch and play for them. The latest addition to
the group of such players is Admiral Muskwe. The youngster made his
full international debut for Zimbabwe, coming on as a sub against
Lesotho earlier this month.
118 players to date has represented Leicester City at full
international level, and many of them playing for nations that are
the home country of parents or grand parents.
Muskwe is a key player in the development team and more and more
football scouts and national teams are following up on players
playing in the U.23's. The 19 year old Muskwe, born 21.08.1998, is
seen as a great talent and also been involved in the first team.
He made his first team debut, coming on as a sub in the 2016 summer
friendly v. Oxford, and is a pacy flank player with great technique.
He will be interesting to follow and as we all know, Claude Puel is
known for bringing in younger players.
The fact that
Muskwe is born in England and still a very young player, makes
it interesting to see why he decided to quit his international
chance with England, and make a decission to play for Zimbabwe.
He could make a switch back to England in the future, since his
debut was in a friendly. He was the 118 player to play at full
international level representing Leicester City. He was the first
Leicester City player to represent Zimbabwe.
The country is not known for producing great footballers, but a few
names are there to be recognised. Peter Ndlovu, Bruce Grobbelaar and
Bobby Chalmers. All players to have played against Leicester City in
City toured South Africa and Rhodesia (previous name of Zimbabwe) in
the early 60's and played the Rhodesian national team as one of the
games on the trip. Chalmers played, City won 4-3.
Bobby Chalmers spent his entire professional career in the (White's
only league) NFL of South Africa, scoring almost as many goals as
games in more than 200 appearances for Durban City, Durban United
and Maritzburg FC.
Muskwe could be the next big football name of Zimbabwe, making his
full international debut at the age of 19. Time will be on his side
as he prepare for more internationals and playing regularly in the
Leicester City U.23 set up.
Muskwe is also the one having experienced cleaning the boots of
Riyad Mahrez, and might be encouraged by him to see progression as
Mahrez has done.
The young Admiral has also been voted Academy Player of the Year at
Leicester City, so expectations to break into the first team.
