What a start to a game,
one perfect pass from Marc Albrighton to Jamie Vardy, and a perfect
touch from the England international send City in the lead
Claude Puel must be very satisfied and the way
he has introduced soft rotation makes you believe that he is
balancing his team with the players needed against the opponent
Okazaki was back in the team, Gray was out. Ben Chilwell also
started the game to the left instead of Christian Fuchs. No one let
Puel down and he got the respond he wanted.
Fuchs was absent, due to a birth of his baby daughter,
congratulations. Gray was left on the bench after being a regular
starter in all Puel's games, but with Marc Albrighton showing the
form he does, he is not likely to be dropped going forward.
Spurs started to put pressure on City, but a splended Kasper
Schmeichel made a number of fantastic saves and especially one from
Sissoko was probably a match winner.
The first half was close to end, when City counterattacked with
Ndidi finding Mahrez and what a wonderful run and finisihing,
curling the ball into the net with accuracy and power that you only
see from Mahrez.
To be 2-0 up after first half against Spurs, is like a dream. We all
remember what happend at King Power last season, the only highlight
back then was the goal from Ben Chilwell in a 6-1 trashing.
City went out in the 2nd half with one special approach, to keep the
lead. Defensively it worked well, but the pressure from Spurs were
difficult to hold back at times.
In the 79th minute it was time for Harry Kane to enter the
goalscoring and with a great turn inside the penalty box, he was
clinical in his finishing and Schmeichel had no chance to save.
Despite great pressure from Spurs, City managed to defend temselves.
Hamza Choudhury came on for Shinji Okazaki, to make his Premier
League debut. Demarai Gray and Islam Slimani also played, coming of
the bench late in the 2nd half.
