Not about big money, it all comes down to the perfect fit, who are they

DATE: 03.01.2018 - THE CUNNING FOX - BLOG

The January transfer window is opened and Leicester are constantly being linked with potential new signings, and of course also a number of speculations of who is going out

City is still a team depending heavilly on the perfect fit, with "nominal transfer fee" players still the most important, Vardy, Mahrez, Morgan and Albrighton are the one running the show, not alone, but without them, City would have been in heavy trouble.

There are of course new signings doing well and the likes of Silva, Iborra and Ndidi are all showing the quality that has given the team a lift under Claude Puel, all players signed by his successors Craig Shakespeare and Claudio Ranieri.

The big chance at the moment is the way Claude Puel approach the games coming up, trying to field a team in the best way possible and not just giving players trust after doing a good game in the previous event.

If Claude Puel is able to keep his best players he will not be doing much in the window, but if Mahrez is departing, together with Slimani, Musa and Ulloa, then of course he will monitor the situation, or as he has done so far give youth a chance.

George Thomas, Hamza Choudhury and Josh Knight have all been involved in the first team, with Choudhury playing a game in the Premier League and in the EFL Cup, Knight also appearing in the EFL Cup. Thomas has been in the squad and showed great promise in the U.23's.

Puel has also given Chilwell and Gray more playing time, and showing that young players can contribute and do a job when called up on. City fans are still waiting for Iheanacho to show what he is worth, we just have to wait and see.

Danny Simpson is injured and Daniel Amartey is not in his best position at right back. A number of right back alternatives are linked with Leicester. Puel looks certain to sign a new right back, but who ?

Demarai Gray could be a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez if he leaves, this could also give Ahmed Musa a new chance. He has been back in recent games and involved as a squad member.

To see one more big money signing arriving without being certain to play a key part is just frustrating. Puel will sort it out, and with the recall of Harvey Barnes, it might be a plan for Puel to see what the England U.20 international can bring to the table.
