Leicester - Sheff Utd, fun facts, key stats, backpass, this is the tcf match preview

After a difficult period in the Premier League with defeats against Man City and Everton, and just a draw at home to Swansea, it might be time to ring the changes and again be able to progress in the FA Cup

Over the past decades there are a few up's in the FA Cup. The semi final in 1982 and the quarter finals in 2005 v. Blackburn are the two most recent up's and of course reaching three finals in the 60's, are of course a bit back but anyway reaching Wembley is something to mention.

The life at Sheffield United is also on the way up, and of course this progress in the FA Cup is one to cherish. Currently 8th in the Championship, three points behind a play-off position.

Bramall Lane has been a place of great days and also difficulties, being a club who has been competing in all four of the professional divisions in english football.

One of the big clashes between the clubs was the 1961 fa cup semi final at neutral stadium City Ground in Nottingham. City as we all know reached the final where they were defeated by Tottenham, who that season managed a famous double act.

Another "great moment" between the two is from April 1975, when Tony Currie and Alan Birchenall kiss each other, and is one picture that for always will be among the most memorable in the history of english football.

In an interview with Four Four Two, Alan Birchenall was asked what his worst moment in football had been, and he replied, "kissing Tony Currie, every year we have to reenact the kiss and he gets uglier by the year."

This was the last game of the 74/75 season, The Blades, winning this game 4-0, with 28 947 vitnesses inside the gates of Bramall Lane to see that famous kiss.

This was a fantastic season for Sheffield United ending 6th in the top flight, City had a more struggling season and managed to avoid relegation with a good run in of games ending 18th.

The last clash between the two clubs came in August this season. City defeated Sheff Utd 4-1 in the EFL Cup with Slimani scoring a couple of goals and really putting on a great performance.

To find the last game in the FA Cup between the two, you must go back to January 1976, and it all ended happily for City, winning 3-0.

City are of course favourites, but Sheffield United can upset a team of Premier League quality. Their manager Chris Wilder is one climbing the ladder of management and he has been linked with Premier League positions this season, after doing great with The Blades.

Might be a special game for Harry Maguire who used to play for Sheffield United, on the opposite side of the pitch Richard Stearman could be fielded and he has a past from Leicester City.

Other former foxes with a life in both camps are of course Alan Birchenall, who did start his career back in the 60's with the club. Other names to mention are Geoff Salmons. Brian Deane and Lilian Nalis.

Puel will most certainly make a number of changes to his starting line-up, but probably not doing a full change of players, but would like to see the following line-up tonight,

City line-up, Jakupovic - Simpson, Fuchs, Maguire, Morgan - Ndidi, Silva, Albrighton, Mahrez - Iheanacho, Vardy

This to just freshen up a bit and getting the normal back four back in shape. The midfield is also one we would like to see and up front would like to see more of the partnership with Iheanacho and Vardy established.
