West Bromwich 1 - Leicester 4, positives and negatives, player ratings and
DATE: 13.03.2018 - THE CUNNING FOX - BLOG
To go "over the sea" and
watch Leicester "live" is a fantastic happening for us foreign fans.
This time we had the pleasure to be among the Leicester fans at The
The start of the game never really gave us an
idea how this would end, but as we arrived at the stadium, some
believed it would be a draw, others were confident we would win
against a team at the very bottom of the table.
West Bromwich were the better team in the first quarter or so and
took the lead after bad defending from the City defence, and a
certain Salomon Rondon scored from a nice header, and watching this
was no fun, foxes were not turned on.
Especially Ben Chilwell showed lack of defending maturity and again
must be blamed for not being able to keep his calm and not rush into
a situation as he did, not being able to defend against Oliver Burke
who made a perfect pass from the flank.
Kasper Schmeichel made a crucial save just minutes later to keep
City in the game, a screamer of a finish was touched by Schmeichel
and the ball hit the bar, it could have been 2-0 to West Bromwich,
luckily things changed.
Football is unpredictable and just a few minutes later Jamie Vardy
scored on a volley just inside the penalty area after a pass from
Ryiad Mahrez, what a wonderfull finish, 1-1.
The first half never really gave any idea on how 2nd half would turn
out. But Puel must have given some good advice as City came out in
the 2nd half and after Kelechi Iheanacho entered the field, it was
really a different game.
Kelechi's intelligent flick to Mahrez was masterly handled by the
Algerian who just touched the ball with his silky foot and suddenly
City were 2-1 up. From then on it was just one team on the field and
City played some of the best football I have ever seen in this era
Great movement as confidence rised and especially Gray and Chilwell
came out and made the day with good movement and great passing.
Chilwell made a perfect pass after a nice overlap and found
Iheanacho who scored his first PL goal in the 76th minute.
The game finished with another fantastic goal scored by Vicente
Iborra who just hang in the air and finished with a clinical header,
with Ben Forster not able to hold the ball and suddenly City were
4-1 in stoppage time. What a great day at The Hawthorns it all
turned out to be.
Mahrez and Vardy showing the skill needed to turn things around
Iheanacho showing his best, scoring his first PL goal
Iborra back in the team, great performance and passing skill, making
City a better team
Chilwell showing great offensive quality, assisting one goal
Scoring four after being one down, great, even against a bottom
Okazaki a bit "rusty" after being out so long, hopefully he will get
100 % soon
Chilwell not able to keep his calm and questions to be asked if he
is a player to trust defensively in the PL
