Leicester are as always doing well with their younger teams and
especially the U.23's are on a good run at the moment. Steve Beaglehole,
who is in charge, knows his business at this level better than anyone.
Leicester are currently leaders of their league, and also doing well in
We would also like to wish
the very best on his 21 year birthday today, the 24th of March. The
young forward has scored a number of vital goals in the U.23's. Been
picked for the first team squad, but not yet made his debut.
Thomas is a regular in the Wales u.21 set up and played from start
yesterday v. Bosnia, he left the field after 77 minutes.
Thomas is one of many young and adspiring prospects. Harvey Barnes,
Hamza Choudhury and Josh Knight are three players from this group that
this season all have made their debuts at first team level.
Leicester are known for bringing forward young talent. Great examples
are Ben Chilwell, Jeffrey Schlupp and Andy King. Liam Moore, Callum
Elder and Elliott Moore are others coming through the youth system at
After watching the U.23's
live this season, Sam Hughes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and George Thomas
impressed the most. Josh Gordon is also one to look out for. They are
all key players for Beaglehole.
Sam Hughes, Josh Gordon and George Thomas are all part of a new trend.
The three are young talents in their early 20's signed for substantial
transfer fees from other lower league teams and recruited solely for the
new and exciting U.23 PL set up.
Claude Puel is known for his work with younger players and it will be
interesting to see how he will conduct his squad in the future. We are
certainly looking forward to see a new trend bringing more players from
the academy and development squad into the first team.
This is the best way of recruiting players and as we have seen before.
Gary Lineker, Emile Heskey and Peter Shilton are all from Leicester and
they all started out with Leicester City and became some of the best
players ever to have performed for the club.
Recruiting players from abroad at an early age is also a trend, and
Leicester is no exception. Daniel Iversen (Denmark) and Jakub Stolarczyk
(Poland) are two goalkeepers part of the youth set up at the moment.
Romania U.21 international defender Alexandru Pascanu is one player that
is a regular in the U.23's, but not yet been involved in the first team
at Leicester. 18 year old Cameroonian, Thakgalo Leshabela is a promising
midfielder who recently made his U.23 debut.
Belgian Joshua Eppiah is another foreigner to watch. The group of young
talents currently at the club are among the best players of their age.
The U.18's are also doing well in their league, currently 5th.
Trevor Peake is in charge.
