This season is in a way over after the defeat
against Burnley and plans for the future should start as quickly as
possible. Puel must use the rest of the games as a start of next season
and hopefully he sees the full picture
The team selection for the rest of the season should reflect the idea of
who will be staying at the club and who will move on.
Wilfred Ndidi, Harry Maguire and
Riyad Mahrez are all players who will be
approached by other clubs and they will of course play since that will
keep their value as high as possible.
Liverpool are allready linked with Ndidi, Man Utd is reported to be
close to a bid for Maguire and Mahrez is still a player that will
attract interest from a number of giants. Wee will just have to wait and
see who will be leaving.
A number of very interesting players are also linked with a move to the
club, with a number changes certainly to happen. A group of players on
the fringe are also in line for a move away if a deal can be agreed with
potential new clubs.
Hamza Choudhury shows great promise and
his presence in the team is interesting to see. He is a player with
potential and one that will be in competition for a place next season,
definately one to give more games until the end of the season.
Would like to see Choudhury in partnership with Ndidi in the central of
midfield and really giving this duo a chance to blend.
Adrien Silva could see his chances
limited not really showing the quality needed at this level and he is
getting to an age that makes him one to consider selling.
Vicente Iborra is a player, injured at
the moment, that should stay next season, and that makes space for one
new signing. There are names linked with Leicester that will be
interesting to see if are interested. Andy King,
Matty James and Nampalys Mendy
should be given a definate chance to leave.
Riyad Mahrez will be on his way out. It
will certainly be a big surprise if he is still a Leicester player when
the new season arrives. Marc Albrighton
is one to keep, the same with Fousseni Diabate
is of course part of future plans. Uncertain about
Demarai Gray and
Gray has not really taken his chance so far, given a number of starts
and his performances has been up and down, so what Puel will decide on
him is not easy to judge right now. Daniel
Amartey and Yohan Benalouane both
might have to leave to keep their international careers in shape.
Ben Hamer and
Robert Huth are the only players with contracts running out this
summer, and Huth looks certain to leave. Hamer could get an extension,
since he is the 2nd choice behind Schmeichel, keeping Jakupovic outside
to team squad.
Loanee Alexandar Dragovic is a player
considered to sign, but looks as if Puel will try to recruite another
defender to fill the position beside Maguire. He is not playing Dragovic
at the moment and that probably shows the answer, since Morgan has not
been in his best form.
The list of players either on the way out or uncertain is one too big
and that should be settled sooner rather than later, this is our
prediction on the situation.
