Fox in full international debut

DATE: 30.05.2018 - THE CUNNING FOX - BLOG

George Thomas made his full international debut when coming on as a 2nd half sub in a friendly v. Mexico. The game taking place in Pasadena US, ended in a draw in front of a 82 000 crowd

George Thomas has this season mainly played in the U.23 side at Leicester City, but from time to time been involved in the first team, being named on the substitution bench, but he has not yet made his full debut in the first team.

Thomas joined from Coventry City last summer, switching first team play at League 2 level with a chance to become a Premier League player at a very young age. He was allready at that time a regular in the Wales U.21 set up.

To see the progress of young players at the Leicester City academy, with also Hamza Choudhury making his England U.21 debut a few days ago, is thrilling and hopefully will make it possible to get more players through to the first team.

Andy King was the other Leicester City player in action in Pasadena, playing all 90 minutes and showing the skills needed to still be part of a set up under Claude Puel. But again  AK might be eager to player more regular first team football in the future.

Wales manager Ryan Giggs had to bring in a number of new faces for his trip to US, since a number of his best players were absent, one of them, Gareth Bale showed what type of player he is v. Liverpool, what a goal.

Steve Beaglehole and his development staff at Leicester City are all doing a grand job in bringing talent forward. Harvey Barnes and Callum Wright are two other players who are also involved in England duty.

Claude Puel has shown during last season that he is not afraid to bring forward young talent. We just have to wait and see how this all will progress, and how Leicester City will develope through the next years.

TCF loves to see youth players coming forward and we can see a pattern, but not yet convinced how this is organised and controlled in combination with players allready established in the first team.

Too many youngsters at once can be a challenge, and to have the right blend is always important. But of course great to see that players in the academy is getting full international debuts.
