Leicester City World Cup players, Maguire and Vardy in England starting line-up

DATE: 08.06.2018 - THE CUNNING FOX - BLOG

Gareth Southgate picked both Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy in his starting line-up v. Costa Rica. Magurie played all 90 minutes, Vardy played an hour before getting substituted

Harry Maguire played in the central defence together with Man City defender John Stones. Maguire played to his best standard and Jamie Vardy could have scored alone with Navas in the Costa Rica goal, but the attempt was saved.

Marcus Rashford and Danny Welbeck, who came on for Vardy, scored the England goals, in a 2-0 win. Rashford's scored with a fantastic shot from long distance and Welbeck headed a ball over the line almost inside the goal.

Gareth Southgate handed debut to 19 year old Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope. Both players did well in the event taking place at Elland Road, the home of Leeds United.
