Leicester City signing international star and former Premier League winner

DATE: 08.06.2018 - THE CUNNING FOX - BLOG

As we have written before, we believed Jonny Evans, was a signing that would be confirmed shortly and today the news about the former Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion ticked in

Jonny Evans is a quality signing. A player with the right experience. To get Evans on board is great. He knows the level, have been with a club, knowing how to be among players competing for a position.

His presence will sharpen competition and give Claude Puel more depth in the defence. We will just wait and see how Puel will compose his side when the season kicks off.

Evans was at Manchester United for 11 years, from 2006 to 2015. He has won all the major domestic competitions while at Old Trafford. Player 70 times for his country N Ireland. Competed in the Euro's and been doing well at West Bromwich Albion.

Last summer Evans was linked with Leicester City, but also Manchester City were keen to bring the former Manchester United player to Old Trafford. Evans stayed at West Brom, but with them relegated and City moving for other players, Leicester City became first choice.

The fee was also in a totally different area, believed to be 3 million, but officially it's undisclosed.

Evans has before moving to West Bromwich also spent time at Sunderland on two different loan spells, taking place in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He also played out on loan at Royal Antwerpen in Belgium for a while, during early days at Manchester United.

Evans will join former team mates Matty James and Danny Simpson, who both played together with Evans at Manchester United. The place is known to Jonny Evans who has been playing at King Power for his former clubs.

This was the second summer signing confirmed. We believe Claude Puel will do more business and bring in maybe two or three new faces more before he is ready for next season. James Maddison from Norwich could be the next player.

Aston Villa looks certain to let a number of players leave in the summer, with Leicester City target Jack Grealish still among those believed to be shipped out due to financial difficulties at Villa Park. A fresh and new, hot, cool, cold, update to look at.
