The Riyad Mahrez transfer saga looks
close to being finished. Manchester City are,
Sky Sports, certain to win the race with a £60 million move to
be finalised this week
No surprise to see Riyad Mahrez
leaving and in a way it makes Leicester City move forward, or will
it be a a step in the wrong direction. At the moment no player is
able to replace Mahrez at Leicester, but hopefully Claude Puel can
make moves that will cover the loss.
We all know how clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Southampton all
have been tapped heavilly during the last seasons and not been able
to move in the right direction. Sacking managers is not the answer
when you sell players and blame everyone else.
To find good replacements for your best players is not possible at
all times and watching Tottenham who have sold Modric, Bale and
Walker to other clubs and suffered, the same with Arsenal, selling
Sanchez and several other players. We all know the story down at
Southampton who are one of the largest suppliers of talent in the
Rumours are flying and the latest to be linked with a move away is
being linked with Chelsea and Roma, who could both be in the market
for a goalkeeper close to the season opener. But few believe such a
move will happen.
Besiktas are favourites to land a move for
but it could be that the Nigerian international will be one Claude
Puel will look at during pre-seasan and maybe a Mahrez move could
open doors for Musa.
Claude Puel is again said to be interested in
Boufal. His situation
at Southampton looks a bit difficult, not being a regular in the
first team. But few doubts the potential of the 24 year old Morocco
So the big question is, will City suffer heavilly with the loss of
Mahrez, or will they be able to cover it all, and move forward. New
faces Ricardo Pereira, James Maddison and Jonny Evans will hopefully
be good additions.
Looking at the grim stats, you will probably be a bit uncertain.
Evans can climb back to his best, Maddison is unproven on this level
and Ricardo Pereira has a very offensive attitude in a team that
might have to defend better than attacking from a defensive point of
We all hope that Puel will be able to take this club forward, but
with the sale of Mahrez, it certainly looks the totally opposite.
