Youri Tielemans is a wanted man at the moment, all of course after a run of great games for Leicester City, scoring two and assisting on four in the last games. He is also very much part of the Belgium set up as well.
So why are Leicester front runners, simply because they are in need of the player and also have an option to buy for a fee of £40million. They also have a player to offer in a possible swap, Adrien Silva can be going the other way.
Tottenham are said to have shown interest, but with Christian Eriksen still very much of Pochettino’s plans at Spurs, there are not a simple way to slot Tielemans into their starting 11.
This is a key for Tielemans to be part of the first team and not warm the bench, that is what he would do at Tottenham and then they are totally out of the race. But if Christian Eriksen is sold to Barcelona or Real Madrid, Youri Tielemans could be an option to fill his place.
The thing that is against Leicester City is the fact that it is Leicester City, in the middle of nowhere and far from a posh place like London. Tielemans who are used to living in Brussels and Monaco, could fancy London in front of “Little” Leicester.
This was a key for especially N’Golo Kantè who left Leicester more or less because of the location of the club and of course more options in the London area. This is an advantage in trying to attract foreign players.
Despite Tottenham interest, Arsenal and West Ham could probably be more ideal for the player who is seen as one of the brightest young talents in World football at the moment, and the Belgian who won bronze in the World Cup last summer, will be seeking regular first team football, something he likely will miss out on at Spurs.
News that Manchester United also will join the chase, looks a bit difficult to understand with them not being in the picture at all earlier. They also have a number of midfield options at the moment, so no, Man Utd will not sign Tielemans.
Leicester City fans are of course eager to see this transfer sealed and delivered, and hopefully it will be done, with Tielemans looking a perfect fit for this team and has been fantastic since joining from Monaco in January, and his linking up with Jamie Vardy is as magical as it was with Danny Drinkwater and Riyad Mahrez.
Vardy is now getting the same service as he got with Drinkwater and Mahrez, those two players that made it possible to go forward and pass the perfect passes to Jamie Vardy. Tielemans does exact the same.
