Leicester City signing imminent, as more business is set to take place

After a long and struggling hunt for the ideal central defender decision, it’s now believed that Leicester City has found their man in Wesley Fofana.

With late James Tarkowski bids turned down, it’s confirmed that a bid for Wesley Fofana has been accepted by St. Etienne and despite this going against Claude Puel’s will, money talks and this looks as great business for the French club as Leicester City might have taken a huge risk, using such a monumental fee for a player without much first team experience.

Now that the central defence hunt is over, rumours are that more business will be done trying to bring in a forward with probably more players close to shipment, as names such as Adrien Silva, Kelechi Iheanacho, Demarai Gray, Islam Slimani and Rachid Ghezzal all are close to the exit sign.

Today also confirmed that, as we wrote yesterday, Darnell Johnson will join Wigan on loan until January 2021, though we believed the player would go out for the whole season, he could return to Leicester City after a half a season.

So what will Leicester City get with Fofana? a beast of a central defender with pace and passion, electric in tackles and going forward with the same courage as we have seen from Ricardo Pereira. Still only 19, and at 1.90 meters he will be one difficult man to stop. Hopefully a great signing that has a potential to fly.

Brendan Rodgers is also said to be be in a chase for a deputy centre forward and maybe a player that can give more options up front with a tall player being what is needed to have a new weapon in the arsenal with a player that can be a able to play more into the air, as Leicester City are attacking and scoring most goals from the ground.

Looking at the list drawn up from different media channels you have a number of options. A name that came up late and back in the running is Ivan Perisic. Perisic was a target also in front of last season, but then the Inter man joined Bayern Munich. He is not a natural forward but he is one that surely can be part of such a set up and if Vardy would be absent probably do that job splendedly. The fact that so much money has been splashed on a central defender could see Rodgers trying to bring in a player on loan, and that could be possible with Perisic.

The latest on Leicester City’s defender chase, Daniel Amartey and Demarai Gray

It’s no secret that Leicester City are running a race to try to tie down James Tarkowski of Burnley, being after the England international for almost a year. Burnley are not trying to stop a move, but would surely try to get as much as possible for one of their most valuable players.

We don’t have anything concrete about a possible move for James Tarkowski, as the most serious sources of the media channels has not yet spoken openly about anything happening. Today a rumour about Kurt Zouma appeared for the first time and we have seen a number of names linked over a period of time.

As long as new names are thrown into the hat, and others at the club are doing well, we might not see James Tarkowski in a Leicester City shirt as money might be saved for other options, but we don’t believe the story is at an end.

Yesterday Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer was mentioned, today Kurt Zouma turned up as an alternative, and with Jonathan Tah and James Tarkowski still in the race we just have to wait a few days more for that defender signing to appear.

Leicester City have agreed to sell Fousseni Diabatte who will next season play for Turkish club Trabzonspor, and hopefully add more experience to a career that could be pushing up and forward with the talented winger getting more first team experience.

Demarai Gray is today linked with Leeds and also seen Newcastle and Spurs in the chase earlier on, but for Demarai it’s all about first team football when making his next move and to join Leeds could be the best option for the England U.21 international.

Daniel Amartey made his second appearance in just a few days being a starter against Arsenal and keeping his place in the team v. Man City. He did well in both games and might have a future, though his presence was down to lack of options and a certain Wilfred Ndidi missing the game through injury. Fulham and Stuttgart were both mentioned as possible new destinations, but with a contract running until to the summer of 2022, Brendan Rodgers do have the advantage and probably not that eager to do any business yet.

Darnel Johnson who at 22 is close to a “be or not to be” at Leicester City could be joining Wigan on loan for the season. To be able to play games on a regular basis in The Championship must be good and the most important for Darnel at this stage in his career is to start playing first team football.

Man City 2, Leicester 5, positives and negatives, player ratings, and match report

Brendan Rodgers made a big decision when he included Daniel Amartey in the starting line-up, did start in a 3-5-2, but could also be seen as a 5-4-1 or even a 5-5 as the Leicester City team went back to a well known formula from the 2015/16 season, trying to defend and counter attack, of course something pacy people like Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy would be perfect for.

But what should end as a new and fantastic fairy story of a football game, started far from it, with a Leicester City team sitting down inside their own penalty box and totally forgetting former fox Riyad Mahrez who scored after just four minutes, unmarked on a corner, firing a shot into the net with great power and direction.

Brendan Rodgers has not been very effective with his tactics against the better teams as many points have been dropped against those top sides, and it looks as if he would see another defeat in his eyes also this time, but with Jamie Vardy you never now, he can change things on his own as we all would become witnesses to this Sunday afternoon.

Vardy is taken down inside the penalty box after 37 minutes and he is not affected by that at all and converts the penalty shot into a great goal, firing the ball into net with great power. Leicester City are equal and as Man City struggles to get through the Leicester City defensive wall, they are taking more and more risks, with Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy getting the space they love.

Going out second half Leicester City and manager Brendan Rodgers might have seen what is coming and the perfect formula is just to sit back and wait for Man City to do their mistakes and everything becomes ecstatic when Timothy Castagne makes a perfect pass with Jamie Vardy flicking the ball behind his legs and into the goal with perfection, what a stunning goal and Leicester City are 2-1 up.

Just minutes later it’s time again for a new goal, as Jamie Vardy again is taken down in the penalty area, and again converts form the penalty spot, it’s unbelievable Leicester City are 3-1 up away to Manchester City, but as we all know we have seen it before.

To be able to keep a player like James Maddison on the bench and use him just for the final part of the game is a privilege few or almost no other manager have, but it was such a day, and when James comes on for Dennis Praet he just wants to play his part and few minutes after entering the field he curl a ball into the right top corner from far outside the penalty box with Man City’s goalkeeper missing that one totally.

Man City hits one back a few minutes later, but Maddison needs more satisfaction and when he is taken down inside the penalty box he just lets Youri Tielemans take the penalty and his shot is placed perfectly and then everything is settled, 5-2.

What a game and what a performance against a Man City team that fell for it and was trapped in a tactical genius act by Brendan Rodgers, this time being perfect in his decision making and if he continues to hit bulls eye and makes the most out of the players he got, he will be in with a very interesting season.

This result is something so strong that you start dreaming again, and at the moment top of the table, all nine possible points picked up, a great goal difference and just again so perfect, what looked like a desperate act turned out as a brilliant peace of work, a big salute to Brendan Rodgers, skipping his ball possession ideas for a game against a team that love to have the ball, taking advantage and using the strengths of the squad, perfect from Brendan Rodgers, fantastic.
