The King Power club has been strongly linked with the 22-year-old midfielder recently and is now allegedly confident that a move has been agreed with both the club and player.

According to Daily Mail, the Foxes are on the verge of signing the midfield maestro and they are expected to cough out a £23 million fee to complete the move of Soumare after seeing off stiff competition from fellow English sides Everton and Wolves.

The surprise early exit of France from the Under-21 European Championship was supposed to speed up this move and it appears that has been the case as City’s lengthy chase appears to be drawing to a close.

Soumare was one of the French club’s standout performers last term as they shocked Ligue 1, dethroning Paris Saint-Germain as champions and winning their first top-flight league title in 10 years.

With only one year left on the contract of Soumare and Les Dogues requiring to sell some footballers in order to raise transfer funds, the foxes have moved quickly as manager Brendan Rodgers plans another top-four assault.

After progressing through the youth academy at Paris Saint-Germain his early football playing days, the 6 ft 1 player found his playing chances in the first-team limited in Paris at the Parc des Princes, hence him moving to Ligue 1 side Lille in 2017.

Inla revealed, “We are very happy with the signing of ‘Bouba’,

“He is a powerful and technical player who can evolve to several positions in the field. His maturity pleased us even if we must not forget that he is only 18 years old.”

This latest revelation as regards the youngster’s potentially imminent arrival at the Premier League side will surely have Brendan Rodgers feeling happy.

The imminent arrival and addition to the Leicester side will give the foxes a different option in the middles and offer some strength in depth as he tries to get his team to fight favourably on multiple fronts.

This signing could be a significant acquisition as Leicester City attempt to return to Europe’s elite club competition next term.
