Vontae Daley-Campbell was one of six players to be released by Leicester today, after spending time on loan at Dundee in the last half of the previous season. He joined the club from Arsenal in July 2019 and has been a steady performer for the U.23’s and also involved in first team affairs on three occasions.
The former England U.19 international added up 10 appearances for Dundee and gained vital experience on his loan stay and as we could see met former Leicester development player Calvin Bassey vs. Rangers who is also another former released player finding football great and fun in the best party.
Eldin Jakupovic was another of those six players officialy released. He has been a great servant and patiently done a proper job as a third choice alternative goalkeeper.
The 37 year old will soon take a decision on his future as retirment might be an option, but still a goalkeeper worth a look for clubs at a lower rank seaking a steady man.
As we earlier predicted Tyrese Shade was on the list of departures, so were Vontae Daley-Campbell, Jacob Wakeling, Will Russ and Callum Hulme. Shade spent last season on loan at Walsall, Vontae-Campbell played from January for Dundee and Jacob Wakeling was on loan at Barrow.
Callum Hulme joined the club from Bury and was seen as a potential man for a first team future. He will certainly be a player who can find attractive clubs in the lower tiers of EFL.
Will Russ is still only 19 and will hopefully find a new development squad to join as his talent will be highly rated somewhere else. He is a Wales youth international who joined Leicester from Chesterfield back in 2018.
Kasey McAteer, Daniel Iversen, Callum Wright and George Hirst who all were out on loan last season will return to the club and get a fresh challenge to try to convince Brendan Rodgers of a future, but we all know that it will be stiff competition for all of them.
