Man City did their trading early, getting Erling Braut Haaland and Kalvin Phillips in. Two pivotal signings that will strengthen their first eleven and at the same time letting fringe players leave for good fees. Zinchenko, Sterling and Jesus are departures bringing in more money than used on the two major signings.
Leicester had high hopes that Youri Tielemans would be out by now and had brought in enough money to get at least one or two good additions in, but still no movement has seen other clubs making bids for players that was not seen as selling objects.
Kasper Schmeichel is gone and so is his wages. Jamie Vardy has to our records not yet been approached by the club with a contract proposal as Man Utd and Chelsea said to be eager to lure the pivotal striker away with a short term move possible.
James Maddison and Wesley Fofana were not seen as selling objects this summer, but with no movement on other players they could be. Newcastle and Chelsea are both eager to do more business before the transfer window close.
Man City looks as the big winners in the transfer market this summer as well as Liverpool making those clever moves both in and out that will see them again above everyone else. Leicester looks to have hit the transfer wall as pre-season preperations are a bit disrupted if players leave at this point.
The fact that Kasper is gone is a massive blow as the uncertainty goes from 0 to 100 in percent regarding the goalkeeper position, but still high hopes that the one being seen as successor will do the job.
Youri Tielemans is believed to be leaving Leicester before the transfer window close but as we experienced with Danny Drinkwater it could see the club also not getting a player in as the Adrien Silva affair would be clear evidence that signings will not be possible.
Wesley Fofana and James Maddison could in this situation be seen as possible sales to get money freed to buy what Brendan Rodgers are looking for in depth, but of course not being able to do any business at this point makes it difficult to understand how it all will end in the last month of an open transfer window.
