The summer transfer window in England opened on June 10, 2022 and comes to an end on September 1 at 23:00 local time. So far Leicester have made one single signing in 3rd choice goalkeeper Alex Smithies on a free from Cardiff City.
TCF beleive half of the money received for the Wesley Fofana move to Chelsea will be available for Brendan Rodgers to spend on new players if the right once comes along.
Leicester is in need of a player to cement a place on the flank alongside Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes. A player that can be the first alternative and probably having Marc Albrighton as a cover or James Maddision pushed forward if another alternative is to use.
A number of players are talked up to be that man to bring in with recent talk about Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea or Ismail Sarr from Watford seen as the ideal men to approach. So far a soft link to Hudson-Odoi has been seen, with Sarr not in real mentioned as a target at all, recently getting a move to Aston Villa called off, due to different issues regarding the move being stamped as “not ideal” by Steve Gerrard.
Today Al Ilhal and their Brazilian flank man Matheus Pereira has been linked with Leicester as a possible place to move. Everton are also said to be in the chase. Pereira was last summer heavily linked with Leicester before joining the Saudi club.
On another front and as a direct replacement for Wesley Fofana, Leicester have Atalanta defender Merih Demiral as a target. This could see the Turkey international being on the move after he was also heavily linked last summer, then making his swtich from Juventus to Atalanta on loan.
This is a link that you must regard as a bit strange since Merih Demiral just agreed on a permanent deal with Atalanta and why he should be moving on at this moment makes strange reading. But as we all know football these days is money business.
Not much is certain at this point but we do believe that the chase of new players will be consentrated on a new central defender and a flank forward alternative with the latter set to be first priority.
