Chituru Odunze has seen his position in the Leicester U.21 set up strengthened. Brad Young and Jakub Stolarczyk are two other talented shot stoppers that has recently been given a chance to join other clubs on loan.
This could of course be the chance to show everyone that he is worth a place in the USA World Cup squad as the U.21 international continues his progress at Leicester.
Chituru Odunzu moved to Leicester from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019 and is very much a product of different cultures as he can represent England, Nigeria, Canada or USA.
A positive trend lately was stopped by a terrible defeat vs. Brighton as The Seagulls made the most of their day, winning 4-1. A sensational result as Leicester fielded their best team and are currently above in the table, sitting at 7th, Brighton are 10th.
Odunze has been the preferred man in goal of U.21 as Notts County and Fleetwood are the loan stations for Young and Stolarczyk. Hopefully changes to the better will occure going forward.
Leicester will be up against heavy tests in their next U.21 games, playing Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea next. Odunze will again be getting a chance to prove himself as this team rely on him.
Odunze was called up to the USA national first team back in 2020 and has so far played at U.20 level for his nation at the highest. He took part in the 2019 U.17 World Cup. He has lately seen his position being lowered in the rank as Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner is first choice, Ethan Horwath from Luton seen as second choice. Other goalkeepers competing are Zack Steffen, Gabriel Slonina and Jan Pulskamp.
Odunze do have a grand talent and we do hope he can get back into recognition as he has earlier been in the mix and could push again, but of course it might be a lower odds than earlier, but still one to watch and if travelling a surprise pick among Leicester players possibly going to this years World Cup in Qatar.
