Leicester have in the past had players representing Jamaica, going back twenty years as Frank Sinclair represented the nation in the 1998 World Cup. Later we have had Wes Morgan and Trevor Benjamin both representing the nation while at Leicester.
Brandon Cover was recently called up for full international duty, after impressve play for Leicester U.21. The 19 year old has this season been more and more involved among the development players.
He has qiuetly taken the steps and looks as a player that could be going places, so let’s hope he will get his chance for Jamaica. It will be a busy schedule for the Leicester player and hopefully he will get a chance in one of the next five games all being played between 15th of June to the 3rd of July. Jamaica will face Qatar, Jordan, USA, Guatemala and the last game is not yet decided.
Cover recently received his Jamaican passport, and from his fathers side aligible to play for this nation, born in Colchester and growing up in Leicester.
Demarai Gray could also get his debut for Jamaica, earlier being part of an England squad, but since falling down the pecking order of Gareth Southgate, he has decided to take a chance and follow other players such as Michail Antonio (West Ham), Dexter Lembikisa (Wolves) and Bobby Reid (Fulham), just to mention a few.
