Mads Hermansen has joined Leicester on a five year deal, coming in from Danish club Brondby. The fee said to have been paid is in the region of £7million. The 23 year old is capped at most youth international levels and also been picked for the full international squad, but not yet made his debut.

The move is of course one to look at with a smile, but still questions the future of the other goalkeepers at the club, with Danny Ward (Jun,25), Daniel Iversen (Jun,25) and Jakub Stolarczyk (Jun,26) on long term deals.

Hermansen has been linked with Leicester for a while, and in all fairness seen as surprise signing as the need of a new first team goalkeeper looked a bit strange as the club now have five alternatives to fill the position.

Hermansen has played 58 first team league games at his former club Brondby before this move and was called up to the Danish national team squad for their last games, being the understudy of Kasper Schmeichel and also in front of Daniel Iversen, who has not featured in the Danish squad for a while, even being a first team choice at Leicester in the latter stages of last season.

With the experience of Danny Ward, being a full international and first choice for Wales, Daniel Iversen showing good form in Premier League last season and having heavy experience from the Championship with Preston as well as Alex Smithies being a long term player at this level for Huddersfield, QPR and Cardiff, and also having the Poland U.21 international Jakub Stolarczyk on the books, adding young England international Brad Young and USA U.21 international Chituru Odunuze to the lot, you surely looks surprised when another new goalkeeper now arrives.

Mads Hermansen is seen as clever with his passing and footwork, as this will be of great impotance in the way Enzo Maresca likes to build up his play from the back. Stolarczyk and Iversen are not probably at the level they need to be to fulfill those ambitions.

Will be interesting to see how the club will work on with their goalkeeper group and hopefully ship a number of them out either on loan or on permanent deals. The future of Daniel Iversen and Danny Ward looks up in the air at this point, surely they will not be satisfied with a life on the bench and if they are in front of Hermansen, you would be surprised to see a major fee used on a goalkeeper.

Anyway, good look to Mads Hermansen who will be the fourth Dane in the Leicester squad with Victor Kristiansen, Jannik Vestergaard and Daniel Iversen also at the club at present.
