To have a settled back line is a must if you are trying to win football games, from the past we do have a long tradition of bringing forward good defenders as we have seen both Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana leaving the club for heavy fees. Often also we have seen strong carachters in there keeping everything together as names such as Matt Elliott, Steve Walsh, Wes Morgan, Robert Huth and Jonny Evans comes to mind, not to forget Caglar Soyuncu.

Conor Coady is one to trust, but surely missed when sidelined, hopefully Wout Faes will take his turn and then you have Callum Doyle, Harry Souttar and Jannik Vestergaard as other central defence candidates.

Options are many also among full back alternatives, hopefully the club are able to keep Ricardo Pereira, having him fit will be a key, but still there are others that can do a good job in James Justin, Luke Thomas and Victor Kristiansen, so you have a good group of full back alternatives, as it looks as if Timothy Castagne leaves and if Leicester can collect another £15million and get him of the wage bill, then he should be given a chance to move on.

Jannik Vestergaard is one player that has been in the dark, but with Coady most certainly missing the season opener, he could be Enzo Maresca ‘s trusted man alongside Wout Faes, with Harry Souttar in the mix as well. Callum Doyle is also an alternative as the this area looks well covered for Championship action.

Enzo Maresca might let one more defensive player leave, and of course Jannik Vestergaard is seen as that player, and possibly giving Ben Nelson a loan chance if anyone comes in for him later in the window.

DEFENDERS: Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Jannik Vestergaard, Conor Coady, Harry Souttar, Callum Doyle, Victor Kristiansen, Luke Thomas
