Danny Ward is the preferred goalkeeper at Leicester City, when it comes to Carabao Cup fixtures, and for the 2nd time he kept a clean sheet.
In his first official game for Leicester City he was outstanding, keeping the goal clean in the 4-0 win at home to League One opponent Fleetwood Town.
The man signed from Liverpool in the summer for a fee of £12,5 million looks as good business at the moment, despite many fans, Tcf included, sceptic to use such a grand fee on a player being just seen as a reserve.
The fact that a brilliant manager such as Jurgen Klopp decides just to ship Danny Ward out of Anfield and not see his qualities in front of goalkeepers such as Mignolet and Karius. But again former Liverpool scout Eduardo Macia must be happy with this one.
The performance in the 3rd round of the CC v. Wolves was outstanding with three magical penalty saves after the game ended 0-0 in play. Ward looks as an outstanding signing and Ryan Giggs must be happy to see the 25 year old Wales international making such an impressive presence.
Giggs at Wales and Puel at Leicester City have other preferred first choices in Wayne Hennessey and Kasper Schmeichel, but Danny Ward who is six years younger than the two others, could be a challenge that will be difficult to ignore.
Schmeichel just signed a new long term contract with Leicester City, and needs to keep his performances at the highest level and he does, being named as one of the candidates to best goalkeeper last season. Schmeichel had a great World Cup with Denmark and has done miracles at Leicester City by winning Premier League, being an ever present in the victorious season.
Danny Ward has not made more than four full international outings and that not much at the age of 25, but anyway the Wrexham born will probably be ready when called up on. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, never trusted Ward at all, and let him leave after only being played in four league games, despite being at a club with goalkeeper problems and others not performing to the level of expectation. This became a reason why Liverpool signed Alisson from Roma for a fee of £ 66.8 million.
Alisson just a year older than Ward is know at Liverpool, but as we could see against Leicester City, not really showing great skill making an error that made him look just as awful as Loris Karius, who also was shipped out on loan to Fenerbahce.
Ward made an impressive display, given a 10 of 10 in our player ratings after the game v. Wolverhampton. Saving three out of four penalties is a bit special and not seen often even in the Carabao Cup.
Simon Mignolet was in goal for Liverpool in their clash yesterday with Chelsea, and none of the goals scored can be described as goalkeeper errors, but again could a great goalkeeper saved them.
Leicester City with a fantastic Danny Ward in goal are through, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are out of the Carabao Cup. As a Leicester City fan watching our latest signing from Anfield, we would not really describe Ward as a problem, rather the total opposite.
