Without Ricardo Pereira Enzoball looks odd as no other player at Leicester can do his job as proper and solid

Ricardo Pereira is the most important player in the Enzoball project. Without him in the team you get a different movement, and it makes this inverted full back job, not done as natural and fluid as it should be.

Hamza Choudhury, playing in the inverted full back role, when Ricardo is missing, you get a different movement, structure and balance. Choudhury is not Ricardo and far from his best, naturally a central midfielder, with his best abilities in a more traditional and settled role of such.

The decline in form has been seen, as results have gone against Leicester in recent time, still having massive possession and domination in field play. The fact that Ricardo Pereira is missing, do also see the movement of the attacking flanks Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi suffering, because you have less players as high in the field as you should, often seing Ricardo taking those runs further into that area, giving oppenent defenders more confusion.

Fans tends to go for route one in critisism of Enzoball, and yes it’s easy to attack the style whenever a result is going against, and yes, we would have loved a plan B. But when should you set Plan B into action? A plan B, would probably have given Leicester less points at this time, switching from one system to another and getting probably more confusion, who knows.

We hope that the effect of having Ricardo Pereira back in the starting eleven, will be that special move getting Leicester back on winning ways.

We certainly believe Enzo Maresca will play Ricardo Pereira today, as his presence is probably the most important. This will also free up space for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. His job do change without Pereria, as the radius of move have to be broader, when playing for instance Hamza Choudhury, not doing the same runs. Hopefully Harry Winks can get a bit more time on the ball, to do his accurate passes, as that also looks easier with the experienced Portuguese in the team.

Enzoball might be dull at times, but with 8 games left of the season, we have to believe and trust this system. The movement, as we have seen it, also working well against top opposition, with all facts to prove it. Hopefully a positive change will be seen today, as Enzo Maresca and his project are at their toughest test at this moment.
