Something in the Air, Still Early, But This Is A Special Player in the Making

Kirsten Otchere has proved he can handle a higher level of competition this summer. Russell Martin has noticed his scoring ability, as he has netted three goals in pre-season games, playing just one half in those matches.

Being a fan of this football club for decades, you have seen players come and go. Looking back you have several names to compare Kirsten with. Julian Joachim is one, coming into the first team at almost the same age and taking the level at once.

Earlier in life, Gary Lineker managed to get his game in shape when Gordon Milne arrived at the club, becoming a vital man and also getting into the England frame while at Leicester.

Emile Heskey copied Lineker, being a local boy, from the clubs youth system, taking the same route. Paul Kitson is another who got spotted and became a goalscorer to count, similar to Otchere in many ways.

Nice to see a young player from your own ranks getting a chance to shine, strangely this has not been spotted by those who run this football club, seeing previous managers rather trying loan options looking far from the level of Kirsten Otchere. He has elegant technique, a silky first touch and he moves correctly into the channels, also looking to link up well with Riley Carr and Stephy Mavididi.

Early days, but we believe Kirsten Otchere will get opportunities this season to impress and in the simple life of football, if you score and put the ball in the net as a striker, you will play.

Lovely to see this progress this pre-season, hopefully it will continue and seeing this young 19 year old player becoming hopefully what Emile Heskey, Gary Lineker, Julian Joachim and Paul Kitson did before him in the top striker role at this football club.
