Expert say, long wait for a return of football, cannot see it happening in 2020!

The Corona situation is one not under control, and both in the UK and over here in Scandinavia we are waiting for the football to start up again. The situation is treated differently from country to country, but all in all, to believe league games will be played in the near future looks totally unlikely.

A top expert in Norway, Bjorn Guldvog, said he couldn’t see games 11 v 11 being played during the year of 2020, meaning they have to overrule the distance of 2 meters. He is a leader of health in Norway and a former athlete himself, he knows his business. That is a grim prediction but we believe the leader of health is close to the truth and that his talk is based on facts of knowledge, and not just trying to “stop the fun”.

In Norway you have a type of lock down, but we have not seen a curfew, but of course restriction on travelling, a number of trades such as hairdressers and physiotherapists among those have been shut down and in the capitol they have not been allowed to serve alcohol. The situation in Norway is among the best, but with schools and kindergartens again opening next week, you might see a new top again as people are afraid this will see a new virus spread. A key factor in Norway is the distance between people, how we live and a more non bacterial flora than in several other countries in Europe.  This might affect the reason why so few have died of the virus so far. Another key reason could be that the digital life over here. All ages have basic knowledge and access to it.

Sweden who have another approach have not stopped players from training and the distance between players is not a topic. Though they have stopped practicing matches, which was allowed just a week ago.

After reading Leicester Mercury today and seeing their story about how football again  could start up, with the virus still in circulation, looks like a very risky project and one not to follow. What we need to know more exactly is when you have a vaccine, when you have medicines who will break down the viruses 100% and when playing football again is seen as “safe”, then a date will be set. Players are back in training in Norway, at least those who have not been given a lay off by their club can train as long as they are following the health authorities guide lines, which says no contact, keep your distance and so on. Footballs must be sprayed and cleaned during sessions and it’s working in a way, but of course far from ideal and also far from a football practice as we all know and are used to.

If you look to China, who had the first breakout of the virus, they are still not back, no date for a startup is set and they might be a couple of months in front. Former Manchester United and Everton midfielder Mauroane Fellaini , a player in the Chinese league, is currently in quarantine after contracting the virus. This might be a warning to everyone that if players start to feel symptoms and are getting ill, such dates of a startup will have to be pushed forward.

The health authorities in Norway are a group of careful people and they are probably more close to the answer than any footballing experts just wishing everything would vanish and that we all could go back to normal ways, but that looks impossible and a far distant thought.

Premier League title goes to Liverpool, Leicester City are third, just let this season close!

To continue believe and dream about a final solution for the Premier League season is not worth it. It’s time to be realtistic, just do as they have done with the Euro’s, postponed everything, and start a new season when it’s possible.

With the pandemic spread we see at the moment and the situation that is as it is all over Europe, the most wisely to do is what has been done i Belgium. Just let the table stand as it does, of course not a bad table for Leicester City, but even being in a difficult position it doesn not matter.

Liverpool are worthy winners, no doubt about it, Manchester City are a clear number two and Leicester City have done brilliantly as well with the 9-0 away win v. Southampton as the biggest plus in the book.

Jamie Vardy would be the league’s top goalscorer as it stands at the moment and he is fully worthy and who would argue about that, no single supporter of any club. Everyone respect Jamie for his loyalty to Leicester City. He is also a previous English international that was ready to pop up again and play if Gareth Southgate would call him up, so most fans would probably not be sad if Jamie is the top man of goals.

At the moment no one knows when it will be brighter days and that football again can roll at the fields and that grounds again can be filled with fans. Playing some sort of a cup competition with games behind closed doors is not football and nothing we would like to see.

So an easy decision really, the top three of the League Championship goes up, the bottom three of the Premier League goes down, as it stands. This would probably not have changed much towards the end anyway. To postpone everything and not decide on who’s going up and down and just freeze it all would not be fair either.

We just have to wait and see what happens anyway.

Possible Leicester City deals that could involve Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Man Utd

As we have seen in the past some of the bigger teams in English football might come back looking for talent and Leicester City could also do the opposite with a number of players at Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United a bit in limbo at the moment.

With a challenging transfer market and a lot of uncertainty considering that “summer window” and how the moves should be handled, you have little or no clue of that at the moment. If this season gets postponed or stopped in full, we don’t know, this could also affect the transfer market.

Leicester City have over the last four seasons made “big money deals” involving Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City, seeing the moves of N’Golo Kantè, Danny Drinkwater, Riyad Mahrez and Harry Maguire appear.

Leicester City could also make deals the opposite way with a certain Kieran Tierney of Arsenal and Adam Lallana of Liverpool both being linked over the last months. We all know that Kelechi Iheanacho joined from Man City and don’t be surprised if Brendan Rodgers returns with a possible and fantastic signing in the bag.

Leicester City have in the past been linked with Patrick Roberts, who at the moment is out at Middlesbrough, and possibly will leave The Etihad this summer. Philippe Sandler Angelino and Claudio Gomez are other names that probably will be in the frame for moves over the summer.

Manchester United might look away and not consider James Maddison over the summer with a certain Wilfred Ndidi also attracting attention and don’t be surprised if Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal all will fight for the Nigerian international.

As we have seen in the past, the best talents in English football might be in those academies at Man City, Man Utd and maybe Arsenal as those players have over the past few seasons attracted attention from Bundesliga clubs who have managed to develop those players, as we have seen with Jadon Sancho, Kevin De Bruyne and a few more.
