Back in 1991, Leicester had a long life behind them in the second tier of English football. Suddenly, they found themselves in a situation they did not like. They were fighting for their lives all the way into the last game of the season.

A long time ago, 35 years to be exact. Leicester had David Pleat in charge. He was a manager with a good track record. He stayed at the club for a number of seasons but struggled. Consequently, he was sacked earlier in that 1990-91 season.

Leicester were not seen as a relegation fighter that season. However, they somehow dragged themselves into this situation. There was a lot of wrongdoing. They did not find the balance and rhythm needed to get these players on a better route.

Leicester Relations in the 2026 World Cup Finals, Barnes, Fatawu, Akgun, Souttar and Ayew all in the Mix

Last week the last six nations qualified for the 2026 World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada. Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Yunus Akgun were involved. De Cordova-Reid in the starting line-up for Jamaica, Akgun an unused sub for Turkey.

Turkey managed to get through with a 1-0 win vs. Kosovo. Jamaica unfortunately losing their match 0-1 vs. DR Congo. Caglar Soyuncu has been out of action, but earlier a regular member in the Turkey squad. He was not involved in these latest qualifiers.

Bosnia surprisingly managed to win vs. Italy. Caleb Okoli has been in good form for Leicester lately. His chances of being part of this adventure is now out of reach. Okoli has previously been a player in the frame for a call up to the Italian squad.

Leicester Struggles Continues as Hillsborough Becomes Crucial In Every Aspect

We still believe this season can be saved before the final game, but today another two points are lost, as big black holes are still there.

Players who should by instinct block these situations, just freeze and does the total opposite. This must be very frustrating for a manager trying to address this week in and week out.

Patson Daka showed willingness to work hard and if he continues this way for the rest of the season, he will be rewarded in many ways. He has scored over 100 goals in his career, which is a tally to be proud off. So far this season he is on 5 goals in 15 starts, which is a relatively good convertion rate.
