Ashley Chambers will for always be known for being the youngest player to have appeared in a Leicester City first team game. He became the club’s youngest ever first-team player at the age of 15 years and 203 days after making his debut as a substitute in a League Cup second round win over Blackpool on 20 September 2005.
At youth level he was seen as very promising and capped for England at all youth levels up to the U.19, when his progress in some way stopped and he never did the climb to highest level of football.
His chances at Leicester City became limited, but he was seen as a potential first team, being at the club until 2011, getting released. He played 9 games in the first team during his years at the club. Ashley Chambers played on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, Grimsby Town and York City during his Leicester City years. He showed the quality needed to convince that level of teams that he could do it in professional football, but at a lower level.
He moved a bit around, and after three years played more than 100 first team appearances for York City. Later moving on to other clubs, Cambrdige United, Dagenham & Redbridge and a new spell at Grimsby Town. Still involved in football, and recently signed for Basford United, after a recent spell at Coalville Town.
