Bertrand previously a Champions League winner with Chelsea, and among the best left back alternatives in the Premier League will be 32 in August, but as alternative solution and being part of a quality squad, he will be perfect in the sense of replacing Christian Fuchs.
Bertrand started his career at Chelsea, made his debut for The Blues in 2011, after being at the club since joining from Gillingham in 2005. He spent his first years at the club out on a great number of loan spells, being at Bournemouth, Norwich, Oldham, Reading, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Southampton, agreeing to join permanent with The Saints in 2015.

He has been an important player down south and this season he played 28 league games and a total of 32 in all competitions.
With a packed programme and of course a lot of players out on international duty during the summer, you need a full squad of quality to be able to compete all season long and not go on periods with stupid defeats against minor opposition and not being able to keep up good form at home. This is of course in the head of Brendan Rodgers and hopefully this signing will give more depth and ability to keep up form.

To add an experienced defender with 19 full caps to his name is of course a boost, and hopefully we will see a player full of confidence and able to jump in at any situation and still perform to a level of good quality.
Hopefully it will be a move that is followed by a number of other major moves into the club, certain outs, hopefully none of those certain in the first eleven. To get the latest updates on all those rumours, your are just a click away.
