Leicester do have a number of youngsters coming up and through the youth system at the club, and as they are selling players for monumental fees, they also nurse forward talent that has been exceptional for both major clubs and their countries.

But the needle eye is thin and small and most of the younger recruits moves on and disappear into the unknown of football, but we doubt that will happen to Ben Nelson. He has been capped at youth levels for his country Scotland and this summer been training with the first team and preparations for a new season is on going.

He was not included in the squad for the Burton Albion game, but seen travelling for training in Surrey with the Leicester first team squad. Nelson was voted Academy player of the year last season and of course that do tell a story.

Ben Nelson was involved in first team affairs last season being part of that Europa League squad that played in Ukraine against Zorya Luhansk. Not on the field but again vital experience in his climb towards first team football.

We have seen a number of players taking the step up in recent years with Luke Thomas, the latest recruit to do so. Other players with the same path are Hamza Choudhury, Jeffrey Schlupp, Ben Chilwell, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Harvey Barnes and Joe Dodoo among those. Chilwell, Dodoo and Schlupp are all gone, with others still part of the setup.

Reports on Ben Nelson are fantastic as him being rated among those who could go on to become Leicester first team material full base. TCF believe that we will see Ben Nelson in the first team by the end of next season, as we all know how Brendan Rodgers rates the possibility of bringing that talent to the first team table.

So one clearly to watch is this defender, established in the U.23’s, born in 2004, Ben Nelson.
