How Southampton, Atletico Madrid and Newcastle can play a vital part in the Arsenal approach for James Maddison

The rumour about James Maddison leaving Leicester for Arsenal will not go away. As TCF have said all the time, we would love the England international to stay, but we believe he will be on his way out, nothing is concrete regarding the future of Youri Tielemans either, but if you have to chose between the two, rather keep Tielemans, but for sure the club needs to move forward without selling their best players in the future.

N’Golo Kantè, Danny Drinkwater, Riyad Mahrez, Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell are five players that have been on the move over the last five summers and in totalt brought in funds in the region of £250million, that has been invested in new players and kept the books balanced. Last years figures were red as the shirts of Liverpool, but in those figures you didn’t have the sale of Ben Chilwell, so with those pounds in place it was a balance result of around 0.

This season has seen the same picture, bringing in players such as Soumare and Daka, and just forwarded the delay of a major sale that has been seen as a possibility to let either Youri Tielemans or James Maddison leave.

Southampton and Newcastle are two clubs that have been interested in adding Maitland Niles to their squad, and if they are lucky in that chase it could free up cash to use on settling the signing of James Maddison.

Alexandre Lacazette is a long term target for Atletico Madrid and if they can agree an acceptable price for the French forward, then money will be available to secure the signing of James Maddison.

To see this happening from a Leicester fan point of view is of course sad, and you just sit and wait for that to happen, with the pre-season campaign a bit hampered as you don’t really know much of how this set up will look like for the season opener.

Leicester still have a strong team to field, even without Maddison in the line up and at least two more players are set to leave, believing Dennis Praet and Hamza Choudhury both will be somewhere else when the season kicks off. Ayoze Perez is a third player that could be on his way, heavily linked with a move to Everton.

The problem for Brendan Rodgers is the fringe business as he must secure the possible dip in form we have seen over the last season, losing out on those CL places, but a difficult balance to keep as younger players must be used if injuries strikes, to keep a number of players on the fringe and just let them sit out heavy parts of the season is not preferable.

Interesting days coming up as Leicester will still be chasing that flank midfield alternative and also said to be in the race for a central defender, always have a look at our fresh and new hot, cool and cold update.
