The Leicester squad need a better structure and new players in as others must be let go. To build a squad of good quality it must mirror the system you tend to play and if you do as Brendan Rodgers does at the moment switch systems week in and week out, everything will as we have said earlier, be very messy.
We don’t know what type of squad Brendan Rodgers are buidling at the moment with a number of alternatives thrown in but in real not really being excellent signings as players tends to get confused and not really being comfortable with the situation.
So whatever Brendan Rodgers does he needs to mirror his squad to the system he prefer and to have the correct alternatives as a player that would be perfect for inclusion is Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas, not really having a good look in at Anfield with Andrew Robertson being the certain first choice.
Watching Tsimikas is a thrill, he is fantastic, a hidden diamond. Would be a top alternative on the left back position, and with Luke Thomas at the club a good covering on the left back position.
So building a 4-3-3 squad or building a 3-5-2 squad what do we see. Leicester do have players for a 4-3-3 set up as a player like Harvey Barnes is of no use in 3-5-2 and surely he must be a player certain to play.
Tsimikas would be available for a fee affordable and with him in there, you need to ship out Ryan Bertrand who at this moment looks better off at a club not really fighting for the top trophies.
We could see Wesley Fofana leave for Real Madrid and with a big fee thrown to the table it would be wise to cash in as Wesley Fofana would not be an ideal partner to Caglar Soyuncu and with no high bids on him and clubs being coming in for Fofana, you need to decide. Palying a three in the back suits Fofana as he is a great defender but still not a leader and tends to go forward and being very attacking.
Ricardo Pereira is also a player that probably needs to be shipped out with Timoty Castagne and James Justin both able to cover the right back position in the best way possible. To keep Pereira on the sub bench would be foolitsh.
The uncertainty with Jonny Evans would see him take over the Wes Morgan job for the rest of the season and next season, being a cover available when fit and not really used as much as we all know will just send him into the physio room.
Janniks Vestergaard is at this moment sadly of little or no use for Leicester and he would be a player to play in a team that likes to fill a bit deeper and looking at him in recent games it’s a shame to see a manager doing what he does with Jannik Vestergaard. Cannot understand the use of him at all and playing as Brendan Rodgers likes Jannik Vestergaard should not be in a Leicester squad.
Daniel Amartey is uncertain as well as his contract do run out in the summer coming up and what type of future he has who knows. But hopefully he is keen to stay and be an alternative as his presence shows that he can be in there against any oppostion.
Signing Simikas and letting Vestergaard, Fofana, Pereira and Vestergaard leave, will open up one more position to cover. So who would fit the bill to be in there. Is Hamza Choudhury a long term alternative alongside any of the other Leicester defenders, who knows, as Brendan Roddgers needs to decide.
Recent rumours about Chelsea defender Malang Sarr might be something to consider, Nat Phillips is another type to be linked, and both players should be in reach, but will they be ideal to play alongside what is in there at the moment.
Sarr (22) and Tsimikas (25) are not certain first team alternatives at their clubs since joining in 2020 with only a handfull of games to their names so far.
We feel that Leicester are ok in other areas as a squad is build up for next season and allready in January should be looked at as a system must be installed and the squad mirroring the way of play.
This would be the squad to go for, 4-3-3 set up
Schmeichel, Ward.
Castagne, Justin, Evans, Amartey, Soyuncu, Sarr, Thomas, Tsimikas
Maddison, Tielemans, Soumare, Choudhury, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndidi
Vardy, Iheanacho, Daka, Barnes, Albrighton, Perez
This is a mirror of a perfectly balanced squad with good alternatives to cover up those areas.
