Leicester City Supporters Club Scandinavian Branch handed over their player of the season award to James Maddison. A poll of votes among 200 Scandinavian fans did see the England midfielder as the winner in competition with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Kasper Schmeichel.

As a season tradition members of the supporters club flies over to a late season game or the last one to present the trophy to the winner. This year we had to be in the stands due to red-zone restrictions.

A handover in the reception and from there given on to James Maddison who was photographed with the trophy with his best wishes made for the Scandinavian Branch. Two Scandinavian fans had travelled to the game vs. Southampton to make this possible.

The ship had taken it’s journey from Notodden in Norway to the airport of Sandefjord from there to Leicester all to the reception of the club, all done by shifting hands to reach the winner himself James Maddison.

This is a great tradition brought on from the first days of the Scandinavian Supporters Clubs excistence, formed back in January 1994. Kevin Poole was the first winner of the traditional trophy.

Other previous winners from the past are Ben Chilwell, Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel, Riyad Mahrez, Esteban Cambiasso, Tony Cottee, Paul Dickov, Matt Elliott, Steve Walsh Kasey Keller, Muzzy Izzet, Frank Sinclair, Gerry Taggart, Robbie Savage and Dion Dublin.

Robbie had his best season in 00/01 and picked up a number of trophies, describing our award as major in a magazine presentation alongside more prominent prices, but to be mentioned in the same sentence was nice.

We are happy to be able to hand over our trophy season by season. The club has over the years been brilliant and their hospitality fantastic.

Leicester City do have massive support in Scandinavia from at least 200 devoted fans organized and part of this very special community. This season since the opening fans from Scandinavia have been present at almost every game, at least five was in the stands vs. Southampton.

Scandinavian fans were in Randers and Rome and travels around to watch their favorite football team. We have also had our special moments in the past with players and managers. A brilliant journey living on for many of us since the late 60’s and early 70’s, hope for more fun next season.
