As we reported earlier in the week Alex Smithies has signed a two year deal with Leicester, making the former Huddersfield, QPR and Cardiff goalkeeper a new recruit to the squad.

With the departure of Kasper Schmeichel we did expect a new man coming in and with Smithies added we do know the priorities of Brendan Rodgers.

Rumours about Jakub Stolarczyk leaving on loan has been there for a while as the club would rather see this talented young man getting game time somewhere else, and we believe the interest from Fleetwood is concrete, as they are two goalkeepers at present.

Fleetwood have two 29 year old goalkeepers on their books, Alex Cairns and newly signed Jay Lynch coming in from Rochdale. Lynch has been the first choice alternative so far and a bit strange to see Stolarczyk still linked as a loan option, but we just have to wait and see, surely Leicester will see their goalkeeper getting first team games and not being a bench warmer or a third choice.

Leicester did accept a bid for Jannik Vestergaard, but the player himself has turned down a chance to join Fulham in a deal worth £11million. We do believe that the club will make a push to get him out and other clubs such as Brentford and Everton have earlier been linked.

James Maddison and Wesley Fofana are both hot property at the moment, and as we have said over a period of time, if a bid for Fofana in the region of £80million or above is seen then convert and sell.

James Maddison looks as he will be staying at Leicester. Youri Tielemans could be on the move if any club comes in with a bid in the region of £30million. Arsenal, Man Utd and also Liverpool are said to be monitoring the situation all into the final hours of the transfer window. Newcastle has been linked and a possible destination, but would be a surprise if he decides to join a club below the top six and with no European campaign this season.

Bouba Soumare was left out of the squad for Brentford, and despite a good pre-season could be gone also when the transfer windows close. Monaco is still a place of interest, but also a number of Serie A clubs could be eager. The same to be said about Callum Wright, Josh Eppiah, George Hirst and Brad Young. All of them seen as possible departures either permanent or on loan.

Brendan Rodgers also have to make a good decision regarding Luke Thomas. Thomas was earlier in the year close to an England call up and have been a regular for the Three Lions U.21. He is rated highly by other clubs and a transfer fee could be in the region of £20million. West Ham are said to be following the situation closely.
