James Maddison and Harvey Barnes left Leicester after last season, moved for a combined fee of close to £75million. They have grown as players at Leicester. Especially James Maddison looks to follow other former massive transfer departures as Spurs looks a contender for trophies this season.

Being at Leicester can give you valuable experience leading to play at the very highest level and even players failing to become regulars can move on to better lives in football.

Tottenham, Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd are the teams that have brought in players from Leicester in previous seasons and the fact that Jonny Evans managed to convince Erik ten Hag that he was worth a short term contract, should really be an eye opener.

James Maddison and his influence at Spurs this season, shows how players from Leicester can shine in other teams when being set up correctly. Riyad Mahrez went on to fantastic records, winning the Premier League four times after leaving Leicester, winning Champions League, FA Cup’s and Carabao Cup’s.

N’Golo Kantè came to Leicester from the shadows of football. Not many knew about his qualities and how he so quickly adaptabted the level of Premier League. Despite having a lot of injury troubles during his days at Chelsea, he had a fantastic career at Stamford Bridge. Winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. At international level winning the World Cup (2018), Nations League (2021) and the Euro’s (2016).

Ben Chilwell and Harry Maguire are two others that left Leicester to experience winning titles. Andrej Kramaric makes the list as well, reaching the World Cup final with Croatia, being defeated by France.

Calvin Bassey is another player with a number of proud medals to show, winning the league in Scotland, getting a runners-up medal in Europa League action, and reaching the Dutch cup final with Ajax.

Danny Drinkwater, despite a difficult time at Chelsea, picked up a FA Cup winners medal from the 2018 final. It might have looked as total fiasco with The Blues, but at least he can look back on a life as Premier League and FA Cup winner, not many have that in place after a career.

But the big and very riddled question is? What if they had stayed at Leicester? and been loyal to Claudio Ranieri, as he would certainly not have lost his job if N’Golo Kantè had given it a chance, losing him to Chelsea was a knife in the belly for every fan, his manager and teammates as his presence surely could have given Leicester the Champions League title the season after. no doubts.

Going forward and bringing the club back to the level they were just three years ago is one massive task for Enzo Maresca, but the past shows that some of the best players on planet earth decided to join Leicester and later moved on to back to back trophy hunts.
