The January transfer window could become a blessing in disguise as ex Leicester men are on the move

Leicester are likely to be finished with their business in the January transfer window, having brought in Woyo Coulibaly from Parma for a fee of £3million. This looks good business and instead of throwing money around and signing unproven products for inflated fees and bring in players who will not make the team better should of course be avoided.

The job for Leicester going forward is to get back to winning ways and pick up as many points as possible with the return of especially Mads Hermansen and Wilfred Ndidi possibly being much more important than signing players who are not at the level needed to get into the team and lift the spirit.

Nigel Pearson, Claude Puel and also Claudio Ranieri made some fantastic business in the January transfer window. Ranieri hitting bulls eye with Wilfred Ndidi, Puel taking Youri Tielemans in on a loan, Pearson having spotted Robert Huth as a potential player to call, all these moves turned out fantastic, strangely all three managers were sacked just weeks later or at the end of the season.

Claudio Ranieri made the signings of Demaraj Gray and Daniel Amartey in the 5000/1 season, must also be said to have had some sort of value, but the two players never turned out to become what the club had hoped for and instead could have nursed forward more talent from the academy, as the two played a number of games but hardly became players to trust for their managers. Looking at the rest of January transfer windows, it shows how difficult it can be, and if you cannot find the correct player, you should just let it be. To add someone from outside without a plan, will always backlash. Molla Wague, Ryan Bennett, Tetè, Victor Kristiansen, Harry Souttar and Fousseni Diabatte are six different January signings that no one can say was a straight success and player ready to cement a place in the team.

At this point to get Wilfred Ndidi back from injury will be much more important than signing players as Man City have done, paying far too much money for their new recruits. The market is really transparent, but hopefully Leicester will be an attractive club in the future, at this point fighting a relegation battle will see it even more difficult to get players of good potential. The summer is of course a much better time to recruit.

We have seen Man City signings Omar Marmoush: €75M and Abdukodir Khusanov: €40M, both at some time linked with a move to Leicester, but looking at the price tag, please understand this is so far out of reach that bringing such a rumour to the table, will be more of a joke than reality.

In this transfer windows, we have seen a few moves in and out. Woyo Coulibably joining from Parma, Brandon Cover moving on loan to Fleetwood, Will Alves joining Cardiff on loan. Hamza Choudhury and Tom Cannon both moving to Sheffield United, Cannon on a permanent deal, Choudhury on loan. Ben Grist has joined Worksop.

Among ex players, Kamal Sowah has joined NAC Breda, after being released by Brugge. Kelechi Iheanacho has passed his medical at Middlesbrough, coming in on loan from Sevilla. Ben Chilwell is said to have joined Crystal Palace on loan from Chelsea. Demarai Gray has been linked with a move to either Bournemouth or Southampton in the close hours of this January transfer window. Cesare Casadei moved from Chelsea to Torino. Filip Benkovic has joined AIK Stockholm from Udinese.
