Leicester will play Fiorentina in their last pre-season friendly on Sunday the 3rd of August. This team ended 6th in Serie A last season. The Ranieri name comes to mind when talking about them. Luka is their current captain. Former Leicester manager Claudio was previously in charge of the club.
This will be a massive test for Leicester facing a team with great quality players. We will hopefully see a structure from Marti Cifuentes. His starting eleven will give us certain clues regarding the team in the opening game vs. Sheffield Wednesday.
Fiorentina manager Stefano Pioli is likely to field a team with a number of familiar faces. You will, of course, recognize them. David De Gea their goalkeeper we all know from his time at Man Utd. Eden Dzeko (39) is a player who has previously played for Man City. Dzeko is a new arrival from Fenerbahce. Robin Gosens coming from Union Berlin. Their are also other arrivals in Albert Gudmundsson from Genoa and Jaccopo Faccini has joined from Empoli. The last one joining is Nicola Fabioli from Juventus.
They will open their Serie A campaign on the 28th of August. They have to date played two pre-season games against lower Italian league opposition, winning 2-0 and 3-0. Besides the friendly vs. Leicester on Saturday, they are scheduled against Forest three days later. Finishing their pre-season with a fixture vs. Man Utd on the 9th of August.
It will be exciting to see what Leicester will look like for this special event. Hopefully, we will get an idea of what Marti Cifuentes’s strongest eleven will be. Of course, ongoing discussions are taking place about different players potentially being sold. We believe the squad is strong enough to bounce right back. The best possible solution will be to keep as many of the best players as possible.

Leicester and Fiorentina played out an entertaining 3-3 draw, with City striker Dean Sturridge grabbing a hat-trick. Portuguese striker Nuno Gomes, the subject of much transfer speculation gave the visitors the lead in the 34th minute as Ian Walker palmed out Ezequiel Gonzalez’s shot straight into the predatory striker’s path. Yet the Foxes were back on level-terms within a minute when Sturridge expertly guided his volley into the net. The second half started in blistering fashion as Sturridge made it 2-1 to the hosts following an Alex Manninger error, only to see Enrico Chiesa make it 2-2 on the stroke of half time. Fiorentina seemed set for victory when Chiesa curled in a delightful shot, only for Sturridge to prod home his hat-trick in injury time to leave matters level.
