Southampton and Coventry, not Leicester, as January Transfer Window Suggests Sunderland Move

Leicester manager Marti Cifuentes has already dismissed the rumor of shot stopper Anthony Patterson joining Leicester. The fact that Leicester joins the list of potential clubs to have a look at the Sunderland player is strange. Stolarczyk, Begovic, and Vieites are already on the books. There are also three young promising goalkeepers in the academy to call on. You would surely be surprised to see a seventh goalkeeper added.

Patterson though will be of interest. He is no longer the first choice at Sunderland, doing well with new recruit Robin Roefs. He was signed from NEC Nijmegen in the summer, for a fee of £10,5million. Southampton are talked up as the destination for the current back up goalkeeper. Antony Patterson has been critisized for his lack of qualites, handling the ball on the floor.

There are also rumours about Dan Neil. A move to Leicester has been talked up, but he is much more likely to join another party. Coventry are the favourites to land him on a permanent deal.

Leicester is currently in a strong position to add Michail Antonio to their ranks. However, doubts linger about this move. The player has been out of action for almost a year. The rest of the rumours in our hot, cool and cold list are just single notices. These notices indicate Leicester’s attraction, but hardly favourites in the pursuit.

We will be following up on all relations to a potential Leicester move, in or out. So far we have no other strong indications on any player besides the former West Ham attacker.

All reasonable acts of any move will be seen in the picture of potential points deductions, managerial changes and the fact that the club have a reasonable amount of players on the books. But again to have an interest is far from seeing a done deal.
