One week left to the January transfer window opening. Fans are over optemistic about transfers in and out. Looking at the picture from outside, we do believe a few changes can occur. However, the most important for Marti Cifuentes is to build a future. That is something we can’t see much of at the moment.
The squad of over experienced first teamers needs a push from young talent to come through. Balancing this mix is crucial to building a consistent and winning team.
There are said to be positives regarding 35 year old forward Michail Antonio. But again we do not believe anyone will build a forward line with this player in mind. Antonio is basically an emergancy short term addition, hopefully adding quality needed for the remaining games of the season.
Marti Cifuentes has talked well about his plans and adjustments. However, the talk is different from the walk. Hopefully, he will get there. Asmir Begovic, Aaron Ramsey, and Jordan James are three summer additions. They look like good transfers and are in line with expectations. Hopefully, we will get to see Aaron Ramsey more now that he is back from injury. Fran Vieites and Julian Carranza are not seen much. It seems very strange. Why did Marti Cifuentes sign them up if there are youth prospects to call on? They are so far down the pecking order.
As a manager you first of all think about yourself. To get points on board and win as many games as possible. The league is the most important and you prepare for that in the best way possible. Marti Cifuentes trusts Ben Nelson’s abilities. That’s why he starts in the line-up alongside Jannik Vestergaard. If Marti didn’t believe in him, he would have chosen another player. No one risk points to let young players get a chance if they are not up for it. Some experts believe Ben Nelson can go on to become a full England international. He has done the stairs from U.18 to U.20 and was earlier in the season included in the U.21 set up. He is still only 21 years of age, and looks to progress well. With other central defenders like Caleb Okoli and Harry Souttar available, selling Wout Faes would not be a surprise. But as we have seen this season, taking Faes out of the shopping window is risky. Not playing him in the first team would not see the price tag getting higher. You might not get a maximum fee. There has earlier been talk about a potential move to Lazio, but nothing has happened regarding Wout Faes so far. No clubs are at the moment mentioned regarding a move. Faes is eager to get into the Belgium 2026 World Cup squad. However, he will hardly be a candidate because he is not getting into the Leicester first team.
🚨 Chelsea and Manchester City are 𝗕𝗢𝗧𝗛 interested in England youth international winger Jeremy Monga and could look to recruit him from Championship side Leicester City in January.

A move in January might be needed in order to stay a step ahead of other clubs who are also… pic.twitter.com/LzJ9ymYrMa
Harry Winks is another riddle. His performances for Leicester this season has not been bad. His body language is another matter. Several incidents have occurred. He is not longer living in the Leicester area. This situation makes his presence problematic.
Harry Winks is in his final season and not likely to be offered a new deal. He will most certainly be given a chance to leave. However, the player himself might be more eager to walk out in the summer. He has a potentially much higher chance of negotiating a lucrative deal. A loan move could be happening in January. There could be clubs eager to add Winks. Fulham and Brentford could be candidates. His salary at Leicester is one major problem for clubs abroad or outside the top flight to level. The current situation looks a comedy. Marti Cifuentes is not really interested in the topic at the moment. To just ignore questions and look at the situation as non existing is problematic. This indicates that there could be mixed reasons for Winks being out. It may not be something the manager himself agrees to.
There are also soft talk regarding Bouba Soumare and Patson Daka being moved on, but that looks very unlikely. Patson Daka is hardly seen as a player who can bolster an attacking line at a higher level. No point of loaning him out. Leicester are short of striker options at the moment. Additionally, seeing a £10 million signing up front at Leicester in this transfer window looks a huge no go. Soumare is one player that Leicester need. We believe he will stay until his contract runs out in the summer.
Jeremy Monga, Louis Page, Jake Evans, Olabade Aluko, and Silko Thomas have all been considered for playing time. They are part of a group of highly promising young players. It is strange if they are blocked from getting more chances.
There are talk out there suggesting Jeremy Monga will be on the move this January. That looks a very strange thought as his contract situation comes into picture. Jeremy Monga signed a new scholarship contract with Leicester in June 2025. He is expected to sign professional terms with the club in July next year. Unlikely to see him moving, being on this scholarship contract. If the two parties decide to split, Leicester will not receive any money for the player. Looks very unlikely to happen this January, agreeing on a move without financial compensation. Those who bring such talk to the table have no real idea of what is real. Leicester do have a difficult situation in the summer. Jeremy Monga can sign professional terms then. Other clubs may also be eager to get him. We believe Monga will be at the club after this January transfer window.
This transfer window will not be very different from previous once. Will just vanish in silence, without much happening. Why Marti Cifuentes should bring in more than one (Michail Antonio), possibly two, looks to be the situation. Faes and Winks could be on the way out, but it looks difficult, with no clubs linked at the moment. There are a few players linked with Leicester. If you enjoy monitoring that, you can check our hot, cool, and cold update. The list have no player listed above cold level.
