Russell Martin made changes to his line-up giving John Lundstram the captains armband and a starting position. Will Smallbone was placed on the bench. Conor Chaplin made way for Sammy Braybrooke as the young midfielder made his presence instantly, scoring the opening goal in the first minute of the game.

We all thought this would be the injection needed to get this game into the pattern and play to see Leicester dominate and score more, but instead everything cracked again, like a roof falling down, as everything became slow and complex for almost every player on the field.

The direct ball up to Emil Riis was never played, what is absolutely needed to get this team up in speed, instead players just wondered around on the field, playing on and two touch short passes to each other to make the home crowd mad.

Instead of more goals to Leicester, not at all able to penetrate, with a few exceptions from Will Alves who made positive runs, but his delivery is close to alarming as it just looks as if do not care were he play the ball. You need to look up, if there are no one inside were you play, then just do something else or try to find another solution, what was happening was close to shocking.

Full credit to Stevenage who packed their defence and midfield area and made a block of hard concrete, that was greatly rewarded in the 22nd minute when Ben Broggio picked up a ball, from a Alex McCarthy blunder, in some way losing a simple ball inside the penalty area, and out of nothing 1-1.

The football Leicester produced was far from fluid and instead of having runs behind wingers to overlap they just turn and move backwards, the space is not used to the advantage, and especially John Lundstram looked clueless and not able to run the midfield as he should, he was so far from what we all have seen in the past, he looked totally lost, having little or no vision to get his passes were it should be.

Luke Thomas was Leicester’s best player today with a number of good crosses, but again not rewarded much for his attempts. We do see these crosses to late at times and far from the numbers needed to get things in the correct shape, but credit to the left flank for his attempts.

Leicester managed to get back into the game with a goal from Kamari Doyle in the 66th minute, then Russell Martin decide to make a number of changes and that should be no problem, if players are consentrated and on their toes, but shockingly they are not and run around in areas they should not be.

Again out of nowhere after sloppy passing from Leicester, Stevenage snaps the ball close to Leicester’s goal and no problem for Tugra Turhan to score with a nice finish, suddenly Leicester have shockingly given away another leading result at home, showing that many of these Leicester players are far from being trusted.

Positives

  • The start of the game, scoring in the first minute, first for Sammy Braybrooke this season
  • Luke Thomas having a good game again, showing he is on some sort of an upwards curve
  • Kamari Doyle scoring a second goal
  • At least not every point was lost today

Negatives

  • Giving away a lead twice against a very weak opponent
  • A lot of wrong doing from the management, not getting enough player inside the box
  • Not trying to field Okoli or Souttar in the attacking area second half, to try to get more goals
  • To many short passes around and around, instead of longer passing and more direct play
  • John Lundstram had a terrible game in the middle of the park, not able to get things fluid in play
  • Changes done, makes the team weaker, and today the system cracked when putting players on
  • Wes Burns looks totally off
  • Were was Kangasniemi and Bristric when you need them, hopeless to see this happening week in and week out, Riis should be given a few minutes rest and the Bosnian is one to call on
